Championship Matches Set at US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup

AUBURNDALE, Fla. (July 13, 2013) – Championship matches are set after the final day of preliminary play concluded at the 2013 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup in Auburndale, Fla. Out of the 40 participating teams, 10 will be crowned in the Under-13 through Under-17 Boys and Girls age groups.
 
The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for teams seeking additional challenges to play for a national title against teams of similar abilities. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

Highlights from Day 3:
 
Under-13 Boys: DSC Alliance SC Galaxy (MD) 3-2 PDN International (TX-S)
Both DSC Alliance Galaxy and PDN International are moving on to the finals, playing against each other again tomorrow for the championship. Today’s outcome resulted in a 3-2 DSC Alliance win with goals all produced in the second half. Vaughn Phillips got a pair of goals for DSC (40’ and 65’), as well as his teammate Chance Mullen (52’). Kevin Felix (66’) and David Gallegos (70’) scored for PDN in the last ten minutes of play, but in an effort to catch up time ran out and DSC took the win.
 
Under-14 Boys: Downtown SC Black (CA-S) 1-1 Crystal Lake Force Elite (IL)
Downtown SC Black and Crystal Lake Force Elite will meet each other again tomorrow in the U-14 Boys championship. The two teams battled it out today to a 1-1 draw, which saw two early back-to-back goals. Downtown SC’s David Orellana Gomez scored in the 10th minute of play, and just seconds later Justin Rutherford tied the match for Crystal Lake Force.
 
Under-15 Boys: International SC St. Tomas (NV) 3-3 Classics Eagles Black (OH-S)
International SC St. Tomas takes the top of the U-15 Boys standings after all preliminary play. Today International tied Classics Eagles Black 3-3, in a game with goals by Ramon Ceja Partida (27’), William De La Torre Jimenez (31’) and Cedric S Jones (53’). Despite being down 3-0, Classics Eagles Black was able to come back and tie the match with a shot by John Bechtel (62’), and a pair of goals Derrick Reedus (64’ and 70’).
 
Under-16 Boys: NADO B16 (CA-S) 2-1 CE Black (OH-S)
NADO goes into tomorrow’s U-16 final undefeated, after today’s 2-1 win against CE Black. Despite being down 1-0 in the first half after CE’s goal by Peter Marth (21’), NADO was able to claim the victory by coming back stronger in the second half. Camille Aucoin notched a goal for NADO in the 51st minute, and Tommy MacCartee scored in the last minute of the match.
 
Under-17 Boys: YMS Clash (PA-E) 2-1 ACS Elite (NC)
YMS Clash moves on to the finals to play against La Roca Select. Today they defeated ACS Elite 2-1 in their last preliminary match. YMS set the tone by scoring in the 3rd minute (Kevin Hart). ACS responded in the second half (Gerardo Peraza 48’), but YMS didn’t allow them to shift the game and scored again a minute later (Douglas Chapuis 49’).
 
Under-13 Girls: Wasatch (UT) 1-0 Ohio Premier Eagles Black (OH-S)
Wasatch moves into the championship match undefeated, after their 1-0 win against Ohio Premier Eagles Black today. The game saw a scoreless first half, and then Haylee Gardner broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute.
 
Under-14 Girls: SASA Spirits (IL) 1-0 Platinum FC Sanchez (CA-S)
Kendall Boyd got her second goal of the tournament – the game winning goal against Platinum FC Sanchez. Boyd scored for SASA Spirits just five minutes after the start of the game. SASA’s strong defense helped kept Platinum out, to secure the 1-0 win and a spot in the U-14 Girls final.
 
Under-15 Girls: SWISA Mutiny (IN) 1-0 SC Del Sol Maxwell (AZ)
Although SC Del Sol’s last preliminary match resulted in a 1-0 loss, they took the top of the U-15 Girls standings and move on to the finals to face LNSC Eclipse. SWISA Mutiny got the 1-0 win against SC Del Sol, with Loryn Willis’ 38-minute goal in the first half.
 
Under-16 Girls: Albion Hurricanes Blue East (TX-S) 3-0 FASA Impact Premiere (VA)
A solid defense, and goals by Kirsten Diaz and Kathryne Padgett, helped Albion Hurricanes get a 3-0 win against FASA Impact Premiere. Diaz scored twice, opening and closing the scoring for the match (18’ and 80), and also taking the board as the top leading U-16G goal-scorer with four tournament goals. Padgett also added to the score in the 47th minute. Albion now moves on to the final facing Rush Swoosh.
 
Under-17 Girls: Eastside FC 95 White (WA) 1-0 Tri City Storm Black (ND)
Sophia Rouches’ early 8-minute goal sustained the match and gave Eastside FC a 1-0 win over Tri City Storm Black. Eastside FC now goes on to tomorrow’s final undefeated, where they will face Fusion in the U-17 Girls championship.
