Hello again. We hope that everyone is enjoying their fall weather and beginning to get ready for the holidays. This week our drive from Shreveport, La. to Griffin, Ga. was not a very long one. Just over six hundred miles, which is not too bad for what we are used to. We had to drive through the capitol of Mississippi which is Jackson. There we saw the state capitol building which was built in 1903. It is a beautiful building made of Georgia granite. Then we made our way to Griffin.
We had a wonderful tournament this weekend and the weather was stunningly beautiful. It was sunny and in the 70s both days. Sadly, this was our last stop for this year. We wanted to thank everyone involved as we had a great time this year. Hopefully we will talk to everyone next year. Thanks for following our adventures online. Have fun and be safe.

Hello everyone! This week we had a fairly lengthy drive to Shreveport, La. from Auburndale, Fla. On our drive we passed through the Florida state capitol of Tallahassee. As we made our way west across the Gulf Coast we passed the USS Alabama in Mobile, Ala. This ship is an historic navy ship that is permanently moored in Mobile. It is now a museum and a national historic site. We also crossed the mighty Mississippi river on our way to Shreveport.

Hello again everyone! This week we had a long drive to get to our destination of Auburndale, Fla. During our drive we had to pass through Nashville, Tenn. and we drove right past The Grand Ole Opry. This is the site of many historic moments in country music. We also passed through Atlanta, Ga. and visited the Coke Factory. Coca-Cola was actually invented by a drug store clerk in Atlanta. It was neat to see the factory and try many of their experimental flavors, some of which were great and some were not very good.

We than travelled on. When we reached Auburndale we were treated to the best BBQ dinner we have ever had. Our contact took us to Peebles BBQ restaurant. The entire thing is basically a screened in porch with the smoking centered in the middle of the building. There are only about ten tables and people just stood around and waited for seats to open. The menu only had about four choices on it and the food was absolutely excellent! We then had our event on Halloween and decorated our tent for the occasion. The kids were excited about our spiderwebs and pumpkin. It was a great day and a great event.

Talk to everyone next time.--Jenn and Rob

Hello again everyone. This past week we had a lovely drive on our way from Milwaukee, Wis. to Bloomington, Ind. Fall has set in and many of the leaves are changing. The oranges and browns of fall are out and they make the scenery lovely. We drove along the coast of Lake Michigan and through the cities of Chicago and Indianapolis. The event this weekend was great in Bloomington. We had lovely weather and all of the families were very happy to be out and playing soccer. They just had a lot of rain in Bloomington so they were very glad to have the great weather and to be able to squeeze the tournament in. We are now on our way south so we can't wait for the weather to warm up and to be back near our home base of Florida. Talk to everyone next week.

Hello again everyone. After some time off we are back and out braving the cold weather. This weekend we had a great event in Milwaukee. The Uihlein Soccer Park is a great facility and the MKAC staff always puts on a great event. The most amazing thing that happened to us this weekend was part of the way through the day on Saturday when it started to lightly snow on us!! It didn't last long as the actual air temperature was above freezing. It was quite an experience though. None of the kids seemed to mind the cold as the games went on and they came by to participate in the Kohl's Interactive Village. So, it seems that late fall is setting in and that winter is right around the bend. Enjoy the rest of your soccer season and we will catch up with everyone next week.

Hello everyone! This past weekend we were in Greenfield, Ind. The Kohl's American Cup was at a very nice soccer facility, and all the participants were very happy to see us. Kids participated in the Kohl's Soccer Village all day. The weather was beautiful for the last official day of summer, the sun was out all day and the temperature was in the mid seventies.

On our drive from Wichita, Kan., to Greenfield, we decided to get off the highway for a little while and relieve the boredom of driving endless miles on the interstate system. We hopped onto highway 45 in Illinois, which is the nations oldest federally funded highway system. Along the way we saw many old Inn's and Diners. We also made a quick stop at the My Garage Corvette Museum to take a look at some beautiful classic cars. Then, we continued on our way to Greenfield. It made for a lovely drive. That's all for now. We will catch up with everyone next time.

Take care,

Hello again everybody. Well if the temperature at our latest event was any indication, fall is here!

This weekend we were in Wichita, Kan., for a lovely day of soccer. The weather was beautiful with the temperature in the upper 60s and lower to mid 70s. There were 48 teams out on the fields starting at 8 a.m., to get the day started. The kids were very excited to come to the Kohl's Interactive Village in between their games. All day their energy didn't wane as they played their games and then took endless kicks at the Soccer Goalie and Kohl's Wall to try and win prizes.

We had a fairly uneventful drive form Crosby, Texas to Wichita, Kan. So, we were very happy to have an eventful, busy, and beautiful weekend. Next weekend we will be in Greenfield, Ind. This is a much longer drive so we should have a story or two for everyone next week. We will talk with everyone then; enjoy your beautiful fall weather.

Hello again everybody. Well, this summer has just flown by us. We feel as if we just started our year. Time once again for the fall soccer season so make sure you get out and play!!

This past week we made one of the longest drives so far this year. We drove all the way from Pennsylvania to Texas. We passed through many states on our way down. Driving out of Pennsylvania we went into the Chesapeake Bay Area of Maryland and then moved into the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of West Virginia and Virginia. We then came down through Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. We then passed through Mississippi and Louisiana before arriving in the Houston area of Texas. It was a long drive but great to see so much of the country. Our event went great this weekend. The weather was hot and steamy, as so often is the case in Texas.

We will catch up with you all after Labor Day in Kansas.
Take care everyone!

Hello again everyone!

Hope everyone is surviving the warm mid-summer heat. This week we found ourselves up in the middle of the Pennsylvania Dutch country. There is hardly much here with spacious picturesque farmland from horizon to horizon. This area is home to a large population of traditional Amish people. You can see them riding the horse and buggy carts down just about every road. We ate the night before our event at the historic Revere Tavern in Paradise, Pa. This tavern was originally opened in 1740 and has four different dining rooms. This Inn was purchased by James Buchanan in 1841, the 15th President of the United States. The meal was lovely and to eat in such a historic place was great!

Next, we are off to Texas. This is a very long drive so we will hopefully see some interesting things along the way. Until then, keep enjoying summer!

Hello again everybody. Well we have to say that we had a very scenic drive down from Coxsackie, N.Y., to Levittown, Pa. Driving through several different mountainous areas and small quaint towns was much more enjoyable than traveling down the highway. One of the towns we drove through and had to stop to take some pictures was Walden, N.Y. We learned that this town was pretty famous in the knife and cutlery world. At least two of the largest knife and cutlery manufacturers in the United States were lured to Walden during and shortly after the Civil War. The town was very small and the main street area was nice. We paused during our trip to snap some photos of a historically rich American town.

The rest of our weekend went well in Pennsylvania. We were first in Levittown on Saturday, and then in Downingtown on Sunday. The heat was up and threatened to scorch us both days, but we still had a great time.

So it looks like the next couple of weeks might be the hottest of the summer so get outside and enjoy it. We will catch up with everyone next week.

Hello again everyone!

I know it has been a while since we've chatted with you. Since we last spoke we have been through the US Youth Soccer Region II Championships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a month break, and we came back to work at the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Lacaster, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. The regionals and nationals were a bit of a different atmosphere for us as they are competitive competitions, rather than the usual recreational Kohl's American Cups. It was interesting to watch the older Under-14 through Under-19 Boys and Girls compete against each other. We learned that there were even college scouts in attendance. So, perhaps we could see some of these players in the future playing for an MLS team.

We were very impressed with the caliber of talent that we saw. Our area was still very busy with younger brothers and sisters having a really fun time trying to hone their skills on our kick walls.

Throughout both competitions we had a lot fun and we are glad to now be back on a normal schedule of Kohl's American Cup. We will chat with everybody next week from Pennsylvania.

Hello again Everyone!

This week we had a very rainy drive from Muskegon, Mich., to Indianapolis, Ind. There were a couple of road side attractions we were able to see on our drive. The first one was in Holland, Mich., and it is called De Zwaan meaning "the swan". This is a real working windmill shipped over from a Dutch town and reconstructed. The second landmark we passed along the side of the highway was the world's largest picnic table. It is a massive picnic table just sitting in a parking lot. We thought that was pretty quirky and odd.

We made it to the field Friday evening to begin setting up for the tournament this weekend. We hung some banners and became familiar with the site. The banners needed a thorough cleaning as our encounter with the rain last weekend had left them a bit soggy. Saturday morning we set up and had a great day. It was warm and muggy giving us our first real impression, that yes, summer is finally here. All of the kids were very enthusiastic about the Kohl's Interactive Village and when they were not playing in tournament games they were testing their skills at the kick wall or the goalie. Some of the smaller ones even decided to just hang out and dance as the sounds of Radio Disney filled the air.

Well everyone, summer is here. So get outside and play, have fun, and stay active. We will catch up with everybody next weekend at the US Youth Soccer Region II Championships in South Dakota.

Hello again everybody! Well, I have to tell you that this past week was very quiet for us and not very exciting.

We stopped in the suburbs of Chicago on our way from Rockford, Ill., to Muskegon, Mich. There, we visited with some friends who have an eight month old daughter.

She was just learning to crawl so we had fun chasing her all over their living room. We had our first cookout of the summer while we were there. With good friends, good food and great weather ,you really can't help but have a wonderful time.

While we did have to dodge some rain storms this weekend we had a fabulous time at the tournament in Michigan.

The local supporters and the State Association did a lot to create a great atmosphere for the kids and families involved. There was a skills competition in which kids competed for trophies based on their understanding of technical soccer skills. There was also an inflatable are which contained a bounce house and a jousting area. The kids had a blast both days and we enjoyed hanging out with them.

Summer is here, so get outside and remember to keep having fun!

Hello again everybody!

I know it has been a couple weeks since we chatted because we had last weekend off. This past week we had a chance to stop by a friend's house and help them clear some land as they are getting ready to build a house and a place for their horses.
One of the horses

It was good to see our friends and also a chance to do some work that you just don't get to get involved with very much.

So, the past couple of weeks were very quiet on our way from Omaha, Neb., to Rockford, Ill. We arrived in Illinois for the tournament this weekend and had a great time meeting everyone from the Illinois Youth Soccer Association.

After the rain

The weather this weekend, while sprinkling in the morning, turned out to be great and everyone had a great time.

Well that's all for now. We will catch up with everyone next week.

Hello again everybody! Hope everyone had a wonderful week.

This week was rather exciting for us. It turns out that Chicago is on the way from Milwaukee to Omaha. So, we stopped and had some fun in the windy city. We toured the city stopping at Millennium Park to check out the different art installations. Our favorite one was the Cloud Gate or more commonly known as the big bean. This is a very large bean looking object made entirely out of highly polished steel so that every surface is very reflective. It was very cool.
"The Bean" - Cloud Gate

Later that afternoon we also visited the Adler Planetarium. There we caught a show about cosmic collisions and we also got to see the Atwood Sphere. This is an old planetarium from 1913. It is set inside of a small thin steel rotating ball. It was a very educational experience.

The next day we went to a Cubs game at the historic Wrigley Field. The Cubs were playing the Padres and they won! It was a great experience and a lot of fun.

After that it was on to Omaha where we had a great tournament this weekend. The weather was unseasonably cold, but we survived.

Hope everybody has a great couple of weeks.

Hello again everybody! Well another week has gone by already. It was a long drive from Lawton, Okla., to Milwaukee, Wisc. Along the way we stopped for a night on old route 66 in Missouri. The second day we did attempt to go to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis however, the RV and bus parking was under water on account of the river flooding. So again our plans were foiled and we were unable to visit the arch.

That night we stayed in Springfield, Ill. The next day we visited not only the old capitol building but also Lincoln's' home before he became President.

alt

It was the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's life and the atmosphere in the historic district of the city was great.
alt
That day happened to be Girl Scout day in Springfield and there were several thousand scouts learning about Lincoln's life and taking in the sites all over the city.
alt

This weekend was a good one for us though a little different. The Milwaukee Kickers Association has an indoor facility for indoor soccer. This facility came in handy on Saturday as it was rainy and windy. They moved the games and our interactive village indoors. It was good that we were still able to get the event in and all the kids still had a blast. Well that's all for now. We will catch up with everyone next week in Omaha, N.E.

Hello again everyone from the team with Kohl's Soccer Experience Vehicle. We were in Lawton, Okla. this week!

We had a fairly uneventful trip from Indiana to Oklahoma this past week, but we did get to see the St. Louis Gateway Arch as we were driving past it. It was raining so we did not stop and hopefully we can stop on our way up to Milwaukee this week.

Jenn and I did get to stop to see some family in Missouri on the way down. That was fun and always good to get a chance to visit people that you don't get to see very often.

We managed to dodge all the bad weather that was in our area and thankfully did not come anywhere close to seeing a tornado. The tournament in Lawton was a good one and on Sunday the weather was actually decent.

Well that's it for this week.

We will catch up with you all again next week.

This was a fun week for us while we were traveling to Fishers, Ind., from Ballentine, S.C. Tuesday and Wednesday we stopped at Maggie Valley, N.C. This small, quaint mountain town is only a few miles from the southern entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We had a couple of great days hiking to different areas of the park and exploring the town.

On Tuesday as we were hiking to one of the highest lookout towers in the park and it actually started to snow on us! We were completely surprised and made our short hike a little cold but the view at the top was well worth it.

Wednesday we hiked to a couple waterfalls and explored the town. We were able to feed several different types of bears at one place in the town. That was a really neat experience and we had a lot of fun.
A new friend!
This weekend was a great weekend in Fishers, Ind. Everyone was very nice and their first-ever Kohl's US Youth Soccer American Cup went very well. The weather was nice and warm, though a little windy. Now we are headed to Lawton, Okla., and we will talk to everyone next week.

Hello again everyone from the Kohl's American Cup Soccer Experience Vehicle 1.

We are very happy to be back on the road again after our month break. We drove up to South Carolina from our home base in Panama City Beach, Fla. While we were on break we got to enjoy the wonders and occasional mayhem of spring break in Panama City Beach. We were very glad to leave the traffic and awful crowds, though sad to leave the beautiful beaches. But another soccer tournament did call so we had a very uneventful drive from Florida to Ballentine, S.C., which is right outside of Columbia.

The people this weekend were absolutely great. Both the South Carolina Youth Soccer Association and all of the parents and kids were a lot of fun to be around and a joy to share the weekend with. This was the first weekend we had the Voila! Stadium Chairs to give away and everyone was very happy about the chance to win this prize. The weather for Saturday and Sunday was great with only a few sprinkles late on Sunday.

So, thanks to everyone involved for making this weekend a fabulous weekend and we are headed off to Indiana. We are going to stop by the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and enjoy some good scenery. We will catch up with all of you next weekend.

Hello everyone!  All we have to say is thank goodness for warm weather!!

We were able to stop at a few beaches on our way from Portland, Texas, to Boca Raton, Fla.  A few days in the sun made us really happy and full of excitement for this weekend's tournament.

Unfortunately, when we were parking the trailer in Cocoa Beach (trying to free up a day for fun in the sun) the wires by the trailer hitch got cut!  So, we thought, oh well, a little excitement.  We brought the trailer to a repair facility and after hearing about the Kohl's American Cup, the nice guys there repaired it for free!!! We would definitely like to thank everyone at Cocoa Marine Outfitters for their help and kindness.

After a little excitement and a few beach days, we made it safely to Boca Raton.  The event on Saturday was great and the location of Logger's Run Park was awesome.  All of the staff at the park and everyone from GBYSA were great and very helpful, especially Artie Birnbaum.

The Kohl's A-Team volunteers were there to help too, along with two local volunteers, Pat and his daughter Sam.  We had two fans who became our tattoo brigade for the afternoon, Krystal and Victoria.  They did a wonderful job.

You can see all the great pictures from the event by clicking here.

Now, we are headed back to Panama City, Fla., for a month break and some relaxing in the sun.  We will catch up with everyone next month, so until then, take care!!

Traveling down our last stretch of road, with the last event of 2008 just ahead, the trip was filled with thoughts of the previous Kohl's American Cup events that led up to this point. Our reflection of the wonderful events that took us all across the nation, back and forth, a few times, it just seemed like the old saying, ""time flies when you're having fun,"" and it was fun. It seems like yesterday that we were at the first Kohl's American Cup handing out lots of goodies to all the smiling soccer fans.

Now we are at the end of 2008 and our appreciation goes out to all the supporters and sponsors of the Kohl's American Cup. To Kohl's, US Youth Soccer, State Associations, the host clubs and their volunteers, and especially the parents and players for being involved. Keep up the great work, keep practicing, stay involved and get ready for next year, it's gonna be great!!

With snow bearing down on us and temperatures dropping into the low 30's, we headed eastbound with the thought of those hot summer events keeping our minds off the cold and frigid weather we were entering. Luckily these harsh conditions only lasted partway through New York, and then it was happy trails once again.

This short 50 mile trip from Perkasie to Malvern, PA gave us some time during the week to explore one of Pennsylvania's most popular state parks, French Creek.

Our adventures in the park included hiking and biking on the over 40 miles of trails in the park that winds through the hills and along lakes, occasionally being surprised by the various wildlife that live in the park, like beavers out gathering wood for their home and deer wandering through the trees. There's nothing better than getting a workout in the great outdoors.

Our Kohl's American Cup double header this past weekend turned out to be just one event due to bad weather on Saturday, but the Kohl's American Cup 4v4 on Sunday was all fun, fun, fun!! Thanks to all who came out to make this event a success.

Now it's off to Bloomington, Indiana for this Saturday's Kohl's American Cup!! See you there!!

It was yet another beautiful drive through south eastern Pennsylvania on our way to Quarryville. Picturesque farms, houses, historic townships and boroughs dotted our path to Perkasie for the Deer Run Kohl's American Cup. Now it's off, once again, to the next stop, Harleysville on Saturday and Malvern on Sunday, for a double header this weekend. Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Beautiful Country Side   RSS

We traveled 523 miles from Cincinnati, OH to Quarryville, PA through some of the most beautiful landscape in the country.

From endless farmland in Ohio, through historic towns such as Wheeling, WV, founded in 1769, through the tunnel passage ways of the Allegheny Mountains, these mountains provide endless recreation for the outdoor's person, then popping out into even more scenic, story book type farmlands and farm houses in the heart of Amish country, Lancaster, PA. This type of corn filled countryside was the setting for the Solanco Kohl's American Cup 3 v 3 Tournament, which had a great turnout of kids from all ages and a spectacular group of volunteers, coaches, and families that made the event a success.

Off to the next Kohl's American Cup, northbound 48 miles to Reading, PA!
Hope to see you there.
