2008 US Youth Soccer adidas Award Nomination Forms Available

US Youth Soccer adds four new awards
Nominations must be postmarked by October 29, 2007

US Youth Soccer is now accepting nominations for several awards to be presented at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop in Pittsburgh, Penn.

Seeking to expand the recognition for those who give of their time and efforts to the organization by way of service, US Youth Soccer has added four new awards in addition to the Young Referee of the Year and Coach of the Year Awards.

Coach of the Year is awarded to a coach from a girls' or boys' team and this year the presentations will highlight two separate categories, recreational and competitive. In addition to their coaching activities, nominees will be judged on sportsmanship, player development, personal coaching development and citizenship.

New awards include the Administrator of the Year award which honors the extraordinary accomplishments in soccer administration over a lifetime. Nominees of Administrator of the Year are actively involved in their community through soccer as well as other avenues. They work to advance the game and may take on additional roles within their organization to provide outstanding service. They also create and implement new programs for their organization and work to increase membership.

An excellent role model for the community, willingness to promote players and soccer, sound moral and ethical character and increasing the opportunities for others to participate in soccer are all characteristics of nominees for the Volunteer of the Year award.

The final new awards are the Goal of the Year and the Save of the Year. An unedited, original video clip sent in an .mov (Quicktime) file format burned to a data DVD/CD OR a miniDV or DVCam tape cued to specific goal or save. Any US Youth Soccer player in the Under-6 through Under-18 age groups may be nominated for either award.

The 2007 Young Referees of the Year were nominated in May of 2007. They will be awarded along with the other nominees of the various categories at the 2008 US Youth Soccer adidas Awards Gala.  US Youth Soccer administrators, coaches, parents and volunteers are encouraged to nominate fellow soccer enthusiasts who inspire you.
