The future of soccer in Durango looks bright after 40 members of the Durango Youth Soccer Association were selected for the New Mexico Youth Soccer Association 2013-2014 Olympic Development Program. Read more here.


Best way to pay for the subway

To promote the upcoming 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, subway stations in Moscow have added these impressive new machines which allow passengers to do 30 squats for a train ticket. Challenge for soccer players: Do some form of exercise before doing any daily travel for a week!

Ontario looks to phase out rankings under the age of twelve

A representative for the Ontario Soccer Association said plans are on track to phase out standings among competitive players under the age of 12 — a move that will be mandatory provincewide by next year. Read more here and then let us know if you think this should happen in the United States.

FIFA released its annual list of nominees for the best goal of 2013 on Monday and it is up to you fans to vote for your favorite before the three finalists are announced in mid-December. Voting closes Dec. 9th. A second round of voting will then determine the winner, to be revealed at the annual Ballon d’Or presentation. Watch all the goals here.

The first time she learned to walk, she kicked grapefruits across the kitchen floor, so there was never a time that Erin Davis didn't play soccer. Now Davis can't feel her legs but continues to play the game she loves. Read more.

Sportsmanship in Saudi Arabia

What's a goalkeeper to do when he has to tie his shoe in the middle of the game -- an impossible task with gloves on? It may have been lost on the referee, but the sportsmanship displayed during Al Nahdha-Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia was quite touching. Watch here.


Hitchhiking with fans

The U.S. women's team had a training session at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida ahead of their friendly against Brazil on Sunday. After the session, the team bus broke down. So instead of waiting for it to be fixed, the players hitched rides back to their hotel with fans, who were delighted to serve as chauffeurs for their heroes. Read more.
