US Youth Soccer has partnered with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company to bring you Responsible Sports™, a program dedicated to championing and celebrating responsibility in youth sports. Liberty Mutual believes that some of the most influential individuals in a young person's life are their parents, teachers, and youth sports coaches. Responsible Sports provides valuable resources for youth soccer coaches on how to further improve upon their commitment to being a positive role model in the lives of youth athletes.

The youth soccer family, including coaches, parents, administrators and volunteers, is encouraged to visit ResponsibleSports.com, where they will find coaching resources, helpful tips for parents, advice from experts and community spaces to share ideas and opinions. Both coaches and parents can participate in the Responsible Parenting and/or Coaching lessons to become recognized as a Responsible Coach or Responsible Sports Parent.

What's New at Responsible Sports
The Responsible Sports Program is kicking it up a notch for 2008! From expanding the programs being offered to improvements on ResponsibleSports.com, we're excited to reveal a new and improved experience, giving you even more reason to become a part of the Responsible Sports community if you aren't already. A few of our 2008 enhancements include:
  • Spring and fall Responsible Sports Community Grant periods
  • Summer and winter Responsible Coaching Award periods
  • A brand new Responsible Sports "Great Saves" program (Coming soon!)

Responsible Sports Community Grants  
The Responsible Sports Community Grants are coming back! Liberty Mutual is now offering the Responsible Sports Community Grants for spring and fall of 2008, so now you'll have two chances to help your youth sports organization win a $2,500 Grant.
 
The Grants will be awarded to 20 youth sports organizations nationwide. Rally as many parents, coaches, and administrators as possible to participate in the Responsible Coaching/Parenting lessons. Organizations with the most certifications will earn a $2,500 Responsible Sports Community Grant to help defray the many costs of running a successful youth sports organization. Go to ResponsibleSports.com now and complete the quiz to receive your certification. You'll be contacted when you can credit your youth sports organization to have a chance at winning the Community Grant!
 
Did you know...? If you participated last fall but weren't one of the 20 winners, your certifications are still valid for the Community Grant period this spring! Visit ResponsibleSports.com to help spread the word to your organization about Responsible Sports Community Grants.

 
Responsible Coaching Awards
The Responsible Coaching Awards recognize youth sports coaches around the country (one in each state). The Awards celebrate coaches who demonstrate responsibility, integrity, commitment and excellence to youth athletes both on and off the field. Take a look at the 2007 Winners!  Coaches, parents, administrators and volunteers are encouraged to visit ResponsibleSports.com in June to nominate a Responsible Coach who has made a difference in your community, both on and off the field!

Winners will receive a $250 gift card, personalized Responsible Coaching plaque from Liberty Mutual, as well as special recognition on the Responsible Sports website and USYouthSoccer.org.
