Recreational Director | Colorado Rapids Youth Sports Club


About:  The Recreational Director job is a full-time, exempt position with the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club. 
The Recreational Director oversees total operations for over 2,000 participants in the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club’s recreational programs serving ages 3 to 15. Duties of this position will include, but not limited to the organization, communication, administration, and technical oversight. The Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club is seeking an individual that is passionate about working with and developing players ages 3 to 15 years old with a particular focus on Zone 1 (U6 to U12) player development. The Recreational Director is a management position and has responsibility over and is accountable for the management and leadership of the Soccer Start Director, the U9/10 Recreational Program Director and the U11 Recreational Program Director.    This position is 70% office administration and 30% field duties. This position reports directly to the Director of Coaching. 
The following is a broad overview of duties to be performed by the Recreational Technical Director. 
Executive Responsibilities 

In concert with the Director of Coaching, establish, implement, evaluate, and lead the Colorado Rapid’s technical and administrative mission for all recreational programs, including, but not limited to coach and player development and retention, coach and player recruitment, parent education, and effective communication, administration, and organization.  

Administrative Responsibilities
Work closely with the Recreational Administrator to oversee administrative tasks and implementation of duties for all Recreational programs, including, but not limited to allocation of administrative tasks, field assignments, player placement, budgeting, creating and managing leagues, creating community events, and all ongoing daily duties as required to successfully complete the position.  
Communication Responsibilities

Develop, organize, and manage communication protocol for the Recreational Program including, but not limited to player placement, coach placement, team assignments, registration dates, program information, updates to members, key transition information and all ongoing communication to keep members informed.                                  

Player Development Responsibilities
With the supervision of the Director of Coaching, implement the technical portion of the Recreational Program by providing age- and developmentally-appropriate curricula for recreational teams and programs; evaluate players appropriately by leading, facilitating and evaluating the player placement process in conjunction with other staff; and oversee all off-season components of the program including, but not limited to summer and winter camps and programming. 

Coaching Development Responsibilities
With the supervision of the Director of Coaching, implement appropriate education opportunities for staff and volunteer coaches; identify, hire, retain and lead additional technical staff, including support staff and team coaches; organize and evaluate age-appropriate coaching clinics. 

U9/U10 Select Program Management
Oversee the placement and recruitment of players into the U9/U10 Select Program. Oversee communication, organization, and administration for the Select Program. In conjunction with the Director of Coaching, develop and implement a curriculum focused on player identification and development. Coach, at a minimum, two Select teams and oversee the hiring and implementation of a coaching staff for the remainder of the teams.
