INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 18, 2013) — Kevin Cathelyn of Braidwood, Ill., was honored as the 2012 US Youth Soccer Administrator of the Year award recipient tonight at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2013 US Youth Soccer Workshop in Indianapolis.
Less than a year after joining Reed-Custer Soccer Club in 2007, Kevin Cathelyn ascended to president and helped the club become the first to reach the Illinois Youth Soccer "5 Star" Program Recognition. He’s increased sponsorship for the club, hosted annual parties to honor volunteers, created a referee program to train high school-aged referees and increased participation in the 3v3 Summer Sensation Tournament to now include 44 teams.
The recipient of the Administrator of the Year award is selected by the US Youth Soccer Board of Directors. The Administrator of the Year Award honors the extraordinary accomplishments in administration over a career.
