There is much to be decided heading into Las Vegas for the Under-15 Girls. Two teams were able to wrap up top-two finishes after play in Orlando, but neither could clinch the title as teams in each division will play for a trip to Nationals and a possible National League crown.
In the Blue Division, Tampa Bay United (FL) pulled off two wins and a draw in Orlando to solidify their top-two finish and put themselves in good position to capture the division title with 16 points on a 5-1-1 record. Tampa Bay defeated Liverpool FC America (N-TX) 1-0 in their final match to secure their position. Samantha Betters sent her team on to the National Championships with a game winning penalty kick against Liverpool, and now leads all scorers with six goals.
With Tampa Bay having defeated Legends FC (CA-S) in North Carolina to hold the tiebreaker, the only team that can overtake the title is defending National Champion MSC Coyotes (MD), who need a minimum of two wins and a draw to take the division and secure a chance to defend their National Championship.
Defending Region II Champion Ambassadors FC sit at the bottom of the Blue table with just two points, but are still alive for a top-two finish, and will battle with Pride Predators (CO), Legends and MSC as all four teams can still finish in the top-two.
The Red Division is also up in the air, but Carlsbad Elite (CA-S) are in great position to join Eclipse Elite Black (IL) at Nationals. Eclipse clinched their spot in Orlando after two victories in their first two games, but a draw in the third kept the door open for Carlsbad to take the division title. Holding the tiebreaker thanks to a 3-2 victory over Eclipse in N.C., Carlsbad need two wins in their three games to clinch the Red championship. With Carlsbad’s Kelsey Aaknes just one behind the scoring lead on five goals in four games, and Sunny Dunphy being called into the last two youth U.S. National Team camps, Carlsbad should have the firepower to move into the top-two.
Ponte Vedra Storm (FL) let a huge opportunity slip through their fingers in Orlando, dropping two of their three games to hold down the second spot by just a single point. Oklahoma FC and Tennessee SC (TN) have an outside chance for a bid to Nationals, while San Diego SC Academy (CA-S) will look to play the role of spoiler.
