EPD State Team Pools Announced

September 16, 2015 11:36 PM

TUKWILA, Wash. (September 16, 2015) – Washington Youth Soccer is excited to announce the Elite Player Development (EPD) State Team pools for the 2015-2016 season.  Players selected to the EPD pools will train together and players will have the opportunity to earn roster spots for the US Youth Soccer ODP Region IV Championships in Phoenix in January, and the Friendship Cup in Portland over Memorial Day weekend.  Additionally, players will have the chance to be evaluated by ODP Regional Team, collegiate and U.S. National Team scouts.

As the EPD program continues to evolve, an Eastern Washington EPD program was implemented for this season to meet the development and identification needs of players throughout Washington State.  Eastern Washington EPD will work in conjunction with WA Youth Soccer EPD. WA EPD is a member of the Region IV Olympic Development Program. As a member of the Olympic Development Program, players have access to regional events, regional camps, and regional teams.

2015-2016 EPD State Team Pools

EPD serves as an identification program for opportunities with U.S. National and Regional Teams, and mimics the National Team system by bringing together the top players from club programs to train and compete. In the last two years more than 20 WA Youth Soccer EPD players have been called into U.S. Youth National Team camps. The EPD program seeks to create a world class learning and development environment that shares the values and vision of U.S. Soccer, U.S. Youth Soccer, and Washington Youth Soccer.

This month, 22 Washington EPD players were selected for the US Youth Soccer ODP Region IV teams based on their performance during EPD events last season.  Five additional EPD players were selected as alternates.  The Region IV ODP teams will travel to compete against the other four regions in front of collegiate, professional and U.S. National Team coaches.  These players were identified among the top players in the 14 Western states.
