TUKWILA, Wash. (August 4, 2014) – Players interested in participating in the Washington Youth Soccer Elite Player Development (EPD) program can now register for open tryouts for the 2014-2015 season.  In a continued effort to search out the top talent from throughout the state, tryouts will be held at five locations around Washington, with players being encouraged to attend at least two of the three available sessions in their area.  Registration for open tryouts should be completed by Friday, August 8.

Boys and girls born in the 1998 through 2004 birth years are eligible to participate in the program, which has helped produce local stars such as Hope Solo, Michelle French, and all three of the Seattle Sounders FC homegrown signings – DeAndre Yedlin, Sean Okoli and Aaron Kovar.

2014-2015 Calendar

The EPD program is part of US Youth Soccer’s Olympic Development Program (ODP), which provides a development and identification pathway for players to move on to the regional team, national team and collegiate levels.  EPD mimics the U.S. National Team program where the top players from clubs teams are brought together for training and competition.  In the past two years, 17 Washington Youth Soccer EPD players have been called into U.S. Youth National Team camps, including three players which were apart of 2014 CONCACAF Under-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifying.

Players selected to the EPD state pool will benefit from monthly training sessions with nationally licensed EPD coaching staff, guest coaches with international experience, the possibility to be selected for competitions including the US Youth Soccer Region IV ODP Championships, as well as exposure to regional ODP, national team and collegiate scouts.  For more information on the Washington Youth Soccer EPD program, click here.
