TUKWILA, Wash. (Feb. 22, 2014) – The championship pairings are set in the Under-15 through Under-19 Boys Virginia Mason Washington Youth Soccer Challenge Cup after semifinal games were played today at Starfire Sports in Tukwila.  Championship matches will be played Sunday, Feb. 23 at Starfire beginning at 8:00 am.  Challenge Cup Champions in the Under-13 through Under-17 Boys and Girls age groups are playing for the Challenge Cup title and the opportunity to compete at the US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup this summer.  The Under-11 through Under-14 Boys and Under-11 through Under-19 Girls Challenge Cup is played in the spring.

The Washington Youth Soccer Challenge Cup is part of the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup, a competition for those teams seeking additional challenges to play against teams of similar abilities for a national title. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

Winners of the Under-13 through Under-17 Challenge Cup will advance to the Region IV Presidents Cup in Morgan Hill, Calif., June 10-15.  The four regional Presidents Cup champions will move on to play for the Presidents Cup national title in Greenville, S.C., July 10-13.

In 2013, Under-17 Girls Eastside FC White became the fifth Washington team to win a regional Presidents Cup crown, but came up just short in the Presidents Cup national title game. No team from Washington has lifted the national President Cup trophy in the six years of the competition.
