On September 8th, 2011, Gary White provided a Coaches Development Summit for a community-based soccer program in the South Park neighborhood. This local soccer program, supported by the Sea Mar Community Health Center, aims to introduce children to a healthy alternative: soccer. As the program begins its second year, Sea Mar reached out to Washington Youth Soccer to provide their coaches information on session organization, team management and coach development. Additionally, through the support of Sports Authority, Washington Youth Soccer was able to donate 20 soccer balls, pennies and disks to the local community. This educational opportunity will help ensure the success of South Park as they continue to develop their program, their community and most importantly, the future of the youth.
Washington Youth Soccer is happy to have been a part of this process through our coaching education and our commitment to community development. For more information on community development contact Heather Turney at heather@WashingtonYouthSoccer.org
