TUKWILA, Wash. (July 15, 2015) – Twenty-eight Washington Youth Soccer teams advanced to the US Youth Soccer Region IV (Far West) Championships last month in Boise.  The prestigious event, part of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, the oldest and most recognized youth soccer national championship competition, is the proving ground where over 10,000 teams across the country aspire to test themselves against the best teams from each state.

Washington teams qualified for the Regional Championships by winning the US Youth Soccer Virginia Mason Washington State Championships or the US Youth Soccer Far West Regional League (FWRL) Northwest Division.  Of the 28 Washington teams to qualify, 13 advanced into the knockout rounds, with Seattle United advancing two teams into the finals, one capturing the Regional crown.

Under-16 Boys Seattle United 98 Copa became just the fourth Washington team to win a Regional title since 2007, and capped an amazing year that saw them claim Dallas Cup, RCL, FWRL Northwest, State and Regional championships, and the team will look to bring home Washington’s second National title in the last 15 years when they travel to Tulsa, Okla., July 20-26 for the US Youth Soccer National Championships.  Seattle United also earned a coveted spot in next season’s US Youth Soccer National League by winning the Regional championship.
