From Roswell Santos SC:
Our Adaptive soccer program is coming up this Saturday on September 26th through October 31st and we are in need of volunteers to help us out.
The program is for children with disabilities who range in age from 5-12. In the past programs, most of the children have some sort of Autism. The Autism scale is very large but most of the kids have wondering attentions and need help focusing on the soccer task, even if it is just kicking into the goal or passing the ball or dribbling. Some of the kids do not talk but can understand what you say. Some kids may make loud noises from time to time and some love to hug and give high fives and clap. Some of the kids may have a physical disability too. They are typically very happy kids and are a joy to be around.
What we need from you? …Our volunteers are buddies for the children and assist them during the program. Soccer skills are not required for this, just being good with kids and patient with their differences is needed. We are asking for adults and children 12 and older to volunteer, we do have some kids that require a little more attention than others and so we do ask that we have at least ½ of our volunteers be adults each session. It is a great opportunity for you and your child to volunteer together. Only you as parent will know if your child will be able to help out, some kids are great with helping out while some are just not ready to do it yet.
The dates of the class are September 26th, October 3rd, 17th, 24th and 31st …all classes are held at the Waller Park Extension Softball Field #1 (160 Dobbs Drive Roswell GA 30075) from 9:00-9:45am.
We will keep a list of volunteers for each class so please click on the link below to sign up.
This really is a fun program and all of our volunteers have gotten a lot of joy from helping out.
