Back to News INDIANA COACHES RECOGNIZING RENE MEULENSTEEN ACADEMY COACHING CLINIC CERTIFICATION May 8, 2012 07:37 PM Thank you to all who have registered to the RMA Coaching Clinic Course. Indiana Soccer exceeded the expectations set for the 1st Renee Mueulensteen Coaching Certification. Over 100 of coaches came on June 9 & 10 to the Carroll Stadium at IUPUI campus to take advantage of one of the best coaching philosophies in the world. Several people that attended the camp were thankful for the approach that Indiana Soccer is taking to enhance the development of players in Indiana. "I just wanted to say thank you for hosting the Rene’ Meulensteen coaching course this weekend. I had an absolutely amazing time. It felt like I just couldn’t get enough. My son, Oren, thanks you as well for allowing him to attend even though this was a course just for coaches. He really appreciated the one-on-one time you spent with him on teaching him how to create space between him and a defender. This class not only taught me how to be a more effective coach with a larger arsenal of coaching tools, but my son, Oren, has renewed spark and desire to practice the things that were taught by you and Erwin van Elst. It’s been many years since I’ve seen him have the desire to practice on his own (selfishly that brings me great joy)" Chris Kolditz - Tri-West Bruins "I had inquired a few times attempting to get my E & D licenses however; I keep missing courses dates due to prior obligations. Having this option for technical training, & ultimately RETHINKING soccer coaching has been COMPLETELY REFRESHING & just what I needed. I can't wait for my next season to begin. This was a GREAT session & I can't wait to further my knowledge with future sessions! I have coached for years at the U10-U15 level. 3 years ago I created Clay Youth Soccer Club, with the help of some leery parents. I have been on a mission to better our soccer community & this Diploma is a nice pat on the back." Ron Kiernicki - Clay Youth Soccer Club I wanted to commend you on your willingness to look at another training program for developing players. I would imagine that as the state director for soccer, you are approached with a variety of new ideas which to make players better, however, you have done well in bringing in a simple solution to an ongoing problem. Meulensteen has developed a simple solution that offers a visioneering goal and not a quick fix to winning. John Wooden would say that winning is a by-product of doing the right things consistently, however, winning may not occur but success is still a viable option. I know this all too well due to my brother edited two books for John Wooden prior to Wooden's death; "You Haven't Taught Until They Have Learned" and the same book in a second edition, which I was allowed to add a personal word regarding Wooden's impact on me as a coach. I look forward to implementing Meulensteen's teaching format as I take the position as Girls Director of Soccer at Blue River Soccer Association and once again, thank you for thinking outside of the box and taking the risk on something that could be deemed as another new fangled idea to soccer. Jack Hamilton - Blue River Soccer Association Once again, Indiana Soccer is thankful for believing in what the association has to offer to club members. The mission is to continue providing services and benefits that can satisfy the needs of all those that are part of the sport and affiliated to Indiana Soccer.
