Bipartisan vote sends multipurpose stadium legislation to Senate
Indy Eleven Professional Soccer in partnership with Indiana Soccer Association’s members scored a huge victory. Thanks to the efforts of fans around the state, the Indiana House voted 73-21 yesterday in favor of House Bill 1273 to enable the construction of a new 18,500-seat multipurpose stadium proposed for downtown Indianapolis. The stadium would serve as a permanent home for all Indy Eleven games and more than 30 other sports and entertainment events to be held every year starting with the venue’s anticipated opening in 2017.
The vision for a “beautiful home” is moving forward and gaining momentum due to the thousands of soccer club members that expressed support for the “beautiful game” and all the benefits it brings to Indianapolis and Indiana.
But our work is far from done. With the bill now headed for the Indiana Senate, your support is critical to ensure Indiana soccer fans get the stadium they deserve.
Every Voice Makes a Difference
You can help by emailing your State Senator now to express support for HB1273 and the stadium proposal. State Senators need to hear from soccer players, coaches, referees and parents why HB1273 is important to the future of soccer – the fastest growing sport in the nation. Visit Stadium for Indiana’s Support page and refer to the “Ideas For Your Letter” section.
Letters to the editor in local newspapers are also proving to be a powerful tool in educating Hoosiers about the importance of this legislation. We appreciate that Indiana soccer club members have taken the time to write their editor of their hometown paper. If your local newspaper hasn’t heard from you, now is the time. Lastly, make sure to share your support with your family and friends via social media using the hashtag #Staidum4Indiana.
All of Indiana needs to know that Indy Eleven has the soccer fans – and the financial plan – to make this project a resounding success without hitting taxpayers’ pocketbooks. Hoosiers need to hear the facts and not the misinformation that some would have you believe.
Be sure to check out the FAQ and read up on the facts. Have questions? You are always welcome to e-mail Indy Eleven at
