Over the course of the first weekend at the 2011 Indiana State Fair, Indiana Soccer played host to the 1st annual Street FUTSAL Tournament. Competition at the Indiana State Fair took place Friday, August 5th through Sunday August 7th, with three different divisions, U13-14 (8 youth teams), Women’s Open (5 teams) and Men’s Open (8 teams). A total of 21 teams consisting of over 170 players took part in this exciting first year event.
Indiana Soccer would like to thank all 21 teams for participating, competing and demonstrating their love and passion they have for the sport of soccer. The general atmosphere on all three full days of competition was fantastic. Spectators and participants alike witnessed incredible soccer skills and competitive spirit as total attendance was close to 600 supporters. The overall enthusiasm of the first year event was phenomenal.
“It could not be better”, Director of Marketing and Communication of Indiana Soccer, Paco Espinosa said. “Indiana Soccer is very thankful to the Indiana State Fair organizational staff for supporting us in putting together such a successful event. It was great to see a variety of ethnic groups getting together to play what we consider as the most widely played sport in the world. We look forward to continued support in developing our relationship with the Indiana State Fair. Our goal is for next year’s event to include a larger number of teams, thus providing a greater opportunity to showcase what Indiana Soccer has to offer,” Espinosa said.
Indiana Soccer continues to look for those groups or individuals wishing to form partnerships - allowing Indiana Soccer to continue in the pursuit in the development of its member players, coaches, as well as the promotion of the sport of soccer in the state of Indiana.   See PHOTO GALLERY
