Back to News INDIANA VOLUNTEER WINS REGIONAL AWARD, NOMINATED FOR NATIONAL AWARD November 25, 2013 05:53 PM Millard Graber, president of the Goshen Stars Soccer Club, has received the prestigious Region II Volunteer of the Year award from U.S. Youth Soccer. As part of this accomplishment, Millard is now eligible to receive the National U.S. Youth Soccer Volunteer of the Year Award. “Millard has been a fantastic humble servant to Goshen and to have him recognized on the national scale is no less than he deserves,” said Dave Guthrie, executive director of Indiana Soccer. “Volunteers are the backbone of youth soccer and serve as great examples to our member communities.” Throughout his time with the Goshen Stars, Graber has served a variety of positions including coach, manager, fundraiser, program developer and field worker. Throughout his tenure as club president, he has worked to make uniforms more affordable for players, coached at Goshen Middle School and served as a translator for Spanish to facilitate communication between players and coaches. Graber first became acquainted with soccer at the age of 10 years old when his family moved to Brazil in 1967. After his ten years of learning the beautiful game in Brazil, Graber honed his skills playing for Goshen College and subsequent adult leagues. Earlier this year, Graber received Indiana Soccer’s Volunteer of the Year award at its prestigious Awards Banquet and Gala. LIVE WITH GOALS!
