INDIANAPOLIS, IN (February, 12, 2010) The Board of Directors announced today that David Guthrie has been named Executive Director of Indiana Youth Soccer. Guthrie served in the role of Interim Executive Director for the past 120 days while the board conducted an executive search for potential candidates.
“Indiana Youth Soccer is pleased that Dave has embraced the opportunity to lead Indiana Youth Soccer in what is now an official capacity as Executive Director,” said Indiana Youth Soccer President Murray Clark. “His experience, knowledge and leadership will be invaluable in the development, promotion and administration of youth soccer in our state. Dave is committed to serving the day-to-day needs of the membership while also focusing on the organization’s long-term strategic vision – bringing value to members and communities in a fun and safe environment, encouraging character development and building future good citizens though the sport of soccer.”
Guthrie has an extensive business experience in both the public and private sectors, as well as, a background in not-for-profit leadership, with a focus on youth and soccer-related programs. He is the Past President of a publicly-traded coal company and has been a private business owner for over 25 years. Guthrie is a graduate of Purdue University and also holds a Masters Certificate in Not for Profit Management from Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI).
His soccer-related experience includes having served as Past President of Indiana Youth Soccer and Past President and current board member of the Indiana Soccer Foundation. Guthrie also served as a volunteer coach and board member for an Indianapolis-area soccer club for over 20 years, a TOPSoccer Coach for over 15 years and as the National US Youth Soccer Chairman for the TOPSoccer Committee. He has also served as a volunteer consultant on two, 40+ acre soccer facilities.
Guthrie has enjoyed re-engaging with Indiana Youth Soccer members and staff during his service as Interim Executive Director and looks forward to the opportunity to create a better environment for youth soccer.
