Indiana's Olympic Development Program: A Platform to the MLS

January 20, 2011 05:28 PM

Two Indiana Residents Drafted to Play in the MLS
Perry Kitchen (1992) and Rich Balchan (1989) were the two Hoosiers that were picked by D.C. United and Columbus Crew respectively in the MLS draft in Baltimore on Thursday, January 13th.
Kitchen was No. 3 pick by D.C. United, while Balchan was No 12 pick by Columbus Crew.
It is evident that the maturity that they obtained while playing for their colleges was very significant. It is also important to mention that prior to playing in college to have this exposure, Perry and Rich participated in the Indiana’s Olympic Development Program (ODP), which gave them the right formation to become the players they are at this point in their careers. As many coaches, parents and players have been able to see, ODP offers the optimal coaches and training to be an important part of the platform to get to the professional level.
One of the things Indiana Soccer is proud of is the exposure ODP players get while participating in different competitions. Players in ODP have the opportunity to be selected to be part of the U.S. Youth National Teams to represent the country in different National and International events, such as the Olympic Games and the different World Cups categories.
ODP continually supports its players by offering all the necessary tools that can lead them to enhance their skills and abilities during their future soccer careers.
Congratulations to Perry and Rich!
