Message from Indiana Soccer League (ISL) Commissioner.
Registrations for the 2012 Fall ISL season went extremely well and we are nearing the end to the scheduling meetings. Attendance at the meetings has been fantastic and a big “thank you” to all the managers and coaches who have attended. I hope you found them to be constructive and while they can be a little intense, when you left, most of you had your league schedule complete and many friendlies scheduled on top. By the end of this coming weekend, all the ISL scheduling meetings will have occurred and after some final revisions, the final schedule will be posted August 27.
Regional play, as requested by the clubs, will occur because of the number of clubs registering for ISL. As the numbers grow, it will be even better. The opportunities to schedule “friendlies” has also been well received as those clubs willing to travel can pick up games against clubs that they might not normally play for their schedule league division.
The new ISL is a work in progress and your input is vital. Please feel free to discuss with your Director of Coaching or person with that responsibility in your Club any concerns and/or recommendations so they can bring them to my attention.
A special thank you to Angel Hall, Jennifer Austin, Beau Jackson, the league volunteers, and the staff in the State Office for all their tremendous work to bring all of this together.
Please remember that with the merger of the Regional Leagues, ISL has grown from 60 teams to over 560 teams for this fall. What a tremendous complement to all the clubs, administrators, managers, coaches, and families for helping make this work. THANK YOU for allowing this to happen. My guide every day is player, coach and referee development for the improvement of soccer in Indiana. Together, we can make this happen.
I will be traveling the State this fall, watching games and meeting with clubs to make sure I understand your wishes for the development of your club and the game in Indiana. I look forward to a fantastic season and hope to see many of you at a game this fall.
