The Southern Alliance of Indiana (SAI) soccer club in Dubois County works to support and strengthen its members by providing them with opportunities to exhibit the club’s core values of acceptance and charity. This winter, SAI had the pleasure of providing a TOPSoccer program to the community. TOPSoccer is soccer for athletes with disabilities and one athlete, Kade Mundy, is quoted as saying “TOPS is the best way to learn soccer in the world.”
This program was supported by SAI coaches, administrators and able-bodied SAI players, serving as Buddies. By being a part of SAI, players are provided experiences and opportunities that will help them as they become community patrons, business owners and future community leaders.
On Feb. 26th, SAI completed its first 8-week WINTER TOPS program. This final ‘ending’ session was not just a TOPS event, but a community event. The session was hosted at the National Guard Armory Gym in Jasper and included a participation medal presentation to all the Athletes. It is a well- kept secret among Hoosiers that Indiana has some of the best, and most successful, TOPSoccer programs in the entire country.
