The US Youth Soccer Region I Premier League for boys and girls teams in the Under-13 through Under-18 age groups will begin play this weekend. The US Youth Soccer Region I Premier Leagues provide an opportunity for the most competitive teams in Region I (East) to play each other on a scheduled basis while also competing for placement in the prestigious US Youth Soccer Region I Championships. The Region I Premier League is available to teams within the 15 State Associations of Region I.

Young Referee, Indiana Administrators Opposing Age Restriction for Officials

Murray Clark, the president of Indiana Soccer, Samir Yasa, Indiana’s State Referee Administrator, and Matthew Burkart, one of the 12-year-old referees negatively affected by the current law that prohibits those under 14 years of age from refereeing, were able to meet with the General Council and the Commissioner at the Department of Labor. This meeting was the first step to explore how the law could be changed to allow children under age 14 to referee.

The national US Youth Soccer Competitive Coaches of the Year award winners are Larry Best of Vienna, Va., (Girls) and Mike Dean of Omaha, Neb., (Boys).
