The recipients of the 2012 US Youth Soccer Recreation Coach of the Year award for Boys and Girls were announced tonight at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2013 US Youth Soccer Workshop at the NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis. The national US Youth Soccer Recreation Coaches of the Year award winners are Chris Thomas of Lawrenceville, N.J., (Girls) and Thomas Velek of Columbus, Miss., (Boys).

Laura Ellen Aspelund of Anchorage, Alaska, was honored as the 2012 US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year award recipient was announced tonight at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2013 US Youth Soccer Workshop in Indianapolis. US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer is the outreach program for soccer.

US Youth Soccer honored Bill Buren of Satellite Beach, Fla., as the recipient for the Dr. Thomas Fleck Award for Excellence in Youth Coaching Education at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala held in conjunction 2013 US Youth Soccer Workshop in Indianapolis.

Kevin Cathelyn of Braidwood, Ill., was honored as the 2012 US Youth Soccer Administrator of the Year award recipient tonight at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2013 US Youth Soccer Workshop in Indianapolis.

Zoe Unger of Boca Raton, Fla., was honored as the 2012 US Youth Soccer Volunteer of the Year award recipient tonight at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2013 US Youth Soccer Workshop in Indianapolis.

The recipients of the 2012 US Youth Soccer Young Referee of the Year award were announced tonight at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2013 US Youth Soccer Workshop in Indianapolis. The national US Youth Soccer Young Referee of the Year award winners are Ashley Marroquin of Holt, Mich., and Jordan Cavaco of Brockton, Mass.

Based on an open submission process and online voting, the national US Youth Soccer Goal of the Year award winner is Nikosi Burgess of Deer Park, N.Y., and the Save of the Year winner is Luke Whelan of Roswell, Ga. Burgess plays for Dix Hills Heat and Whelan patrols the net for North Atlantic Soccer.​

The US Youth Soccer National League has added automatic Regional League qualification to the existing National League and Regional Championship slots. Beginning in 2013-2014, teams will automatically qualify for the league through the previous year’s US Youth Soccer National League, Regional Premier Leagues and Regional Championships, further integrating the most competitive US Youth Soccer programs.​
