Schedule changes for tomorrow's semifinals
Under-12 11v11 Boys and Girls and Under-13 preliminary matches will be played starting at 8 a.m. at the Barboursville Soccer Park

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (July 5, 2009) –
Teams fought hard in steady rain for a spot in tomorrow's US Youth Soccer Region I Championships semifinals. Only essential games were played on fields at the Barboursville Soccer Complex, YMCA Kennedy Center, Scott Orthopedic Center, Marshall University, Schoenbaum, South Point and Trace Fork. These games have determined the schedule for tomorrow's semifinal match. The full schedule is below.

Three shut outs in round robin play send a proud Hockession Academy Under-16 Girls team to the semifinals representing Delaware. Allyson Zerhusen found the back of the net in the 70th minute and Hockession's strong defense and keeper Kristi Jackson held for the 1-0 win over Maryland's Bethesda Dragons.

Eastern Pennsylvania's FC Bucks Vipers will make a repeat performance in the semifinals at the Region I Championships. The Bucks have played at the Region I Championships for seven years and last year they won and moved on to the US Youth Soccer National Championships. The experience has sharpened their drive and their goal is to win again this year. Today, they won 2-0 over Arsenal World Class from New Jersey.

Putting the defending Region I Champions on the map first was Heidi Sabatura giving FC Bucks Vipers (E-PA) the 1-0 advantage. The Bucks played in the Region I Champions seven years and last year they went to the National Championships. Their 2-0 win over Arsenal World Class from New Jersey send them to the semifinals.

With 110 years of tradition, Beadling (PA-W) has a rich history at the Region I Championships. Beadling's Under-18 Girls seven time state champions and won regionals in 2005. Unfortunately, their 1-0 win over Seacoast United Maine today wasn't enough to earn a spot in tomorrow's semifinals.

Two wins and a loss wasn't enough to send the Under-18 Girls South Shore Select (MA) to the semifinals. With two goals by Kristie Mewis, the Select beat the Laurel Wildcats (MD) 5-0. Select teammates Katherine Eagan, Jenna Roncarati and Michelle Montillio contributed to the lead.

Montclair United Aristocats (NJ) earned their spot in tomorrow's Under-18 Girls semifinal match with a 9-0 win over Rhode Island's Warwick Firefighters. Maya Hayes scored five of the nine goals. Tomorrow the Aristocats face off against McLean Freedom from Virginia at 8:15 a.m.
