Bays take the double

THE BALTIMORE CASA MIA BAYS became only the fourth team to win two boys titles at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships in the same year when they won the U-19 and U-15 crowns at the finals held at Citizens Bank Fields in Lancaster, Mass. The U-19s finished as one of the great youth teams of all time. Sunday's title was their third national title following championships in 2006 (U.S. Youth Soccer U-16s) and 2008 (U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-17/18  age group).

Under-19 Boys
Baltimore Casa Mia Bays (MD) 2, NASA 08 Elite (GA) 0
The Bays captured the McGuire Cup, the oldest youth sport trophy in the country, founded in 1935, thanks to goals late in both halves. John Raley's cross in the 45th minute to Mark Jaskolski gave the Bays the 1-0 lead. Michael Lansing stole a pass and fed Brendan Klebanoff for a breakaway goal in the 89th minute.

Under-18 Boys
DSC 90 Green (SC) 2, Javanon (KY) 1
Discoveries SC became the first team to win a national championship from South Carolina, completing a perfect run through the state tournament, regionals and nationals with a 2-1 win over Javanon. Crayton Benson set up star Enzo Martinez and Juan Velasquez for first-half goals. Javanon's Vinicius Paiva cut the DSC lead in half in the 50th minute. DSC finished with 17 goals in four games.

Under-17 Boys
CZ Elite (CA-S) 3, Triangle United (NC) 2
Surely the game of the weekend as high-scoring CZ Elite jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 26th minute, then survived a late Triangle rally. Daniel Amaya and Leonardo Guerra gave CZ the early lead, and UCLA's Eder Arreola scored the third CZ goal to finish with a tournament-high five goals. Triangle cut the lead to one with goals from Chad Drimer in the 88th minute and Sebastian Garner (from the penalty spot) in the 90th minute. Chad Drimer's game-tying header in stoppage time was deflected by CZ's keeper and ricocheted off the crossbar.

Under-16 Boys
Dallas Texans 93 Red (N-TX) 1, Hicksville Strikers (E-NY) 0
Brandon Perez scored the game-winning goal in the 56th minute to defeat the Strikers and claim the double (Nationals Championships and National League) for the Texans. 

Under-15 Boys
Baltimore Casa Mia Bays (MD) 2 Sereno White (AZ) 0
The younger Bays won the double -- National League and National Championships -- on goals by Michael Gamble and highly regarded Malcom Harris. The U-18 and U-15 titles earned Coach Steve Nichols a record seven titles (two wins for the '88, '90 and '93 Bays and with the '94 Bays).

Under-14 Boys
West Coast FC (CA-S) 2 St. Louis Scott Gallagher (MO) 0
After a scoreless first half, Cristian Canales put West Coast ahead in the 43rd minute, and Justin Dhillon scored on a breakaway 20 minutes later for West Coast's first U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship. 
 
Rush repeats for third time
LED BY UNIVERSITY OF PORTLAND star Danielle Foxhoven's hat trick, Colorado Rush Nike captured its record ninth girls national title -- one more than the Dallas Texans -- and third back-to-back championship with a 4-2 overtime win over Eclipse Select in the U-19 final at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships.

Under-19 Girls
Colorado Rush Nike (CO) 4, Eclipse Select 89-90 (IL) 2 (OT)
Rush captured its ninth girls national title -- one more than the Dallas Texans -- and third back-to-back championship with a 4-2 win over Eclipse Select in the Stewart Cup final. The University of Portland's Danielle Foxhoven was the hero with a hat trick -- the first goal of the game in the 83rd minute and goals at the end of each overtime session. Eclipse, which had defeated Rush earlier in the week, 2-1, tied the score on Candace Ruff's goal in stoppage time.

Under-18 Girls
FC Bucks Vipers (E-PA) 1, Ohio Elite (OH-S) 0
FC Bucks Vipers became the first girls team from Pennsylvania to claim a National Championship, capturing the Kelly Cup on Madlyn Evans' goal the 58th minute. With the win, the Vipers would complete their goal of honoring head coach Ed Leigh's son-in-law, fallen Philadelphia police officer John Pawloski killed in the line of duty this February.

Under-17 Girls
Eclipse Select (IL) 4, PDA Fire (NJ) 0
Eclipse Select won its fifth National Championship and the second for Coach Rory Dames. Vanessa Laxgang and Kelsey Hough gave the Illinois team the early lead, and Samantha Scofield clinched the win with two late goals, denying the Fire, three-time National Championships participant and twice runner-up.

Under-16 Girls
De Anza Force (CA-N) 1, Ponte Vedra Storm (FL) 0
De Anza Force advanced to Lancaster as the Region IV runner-up as the Region IV champion So Cal Blues-Dodge had already punched their ticket via the National League. Two minutes into the second half Lorin Hom gave Force the lead, and keeper Emily Kruger then held off the Storm, making eight saves.

Under-15 Girls
San Diego Surf (CA-S) 0 Dallas Texans Red (N-TX) 0 (6-5 penalties)
Surf, which claimed the U.S. Youth Soccer National League title ahead of the Texans, again edged the Texans, this time in a shootout. Ariana Zargarian was the hero, blocking two shots in the shootout.

Under-14 Girls
Mustang Blast (CA-N) 1 CASL Spartans Elite Black (NC) 0
Stephanie Amack's goal in the 26th minute gave the Blast the title in the Elmer Ehlers Cup. Blast keeper Beth Ritter was solid in goal and preserved the win.
