FRISCO, TEXAS (June 9, 2011)
– Beginning today, the US Youth Soccer National League is accepting applications for the 2011-2012 seasonal year that goes from Sept. 1, 2011 to Aug. 31, 2012. Applications are due Friday, July 8, 2011, at 5 p.m. EST.

The National League will expand with the Under-18 Boys and Girls for the upcoming season.  This marks the newest expansion to the growing league which will consist of Under-15 through Under-18 Boys and Girls teams.  Sixteen teams will qualify in each gender age group with teams earning slots primarily from play in their respective US Youth Soccer Regional Leagues [i.e. US Youth Soccer Region I (East) Premier League, US Youth Soccer Midwest Regional League, US Youth Soccer Region III (South) Premier League and the US Youth Soccer Far West Regional League] or through previous National League qualification.

The top four Under-15 and Under-17 finishers of the 10-11 National League season have earned the opportunity to retain their slots for the 11-12 season, providing teams meet all eligibility requirements. Also earning a place in the 11-12 National League season are the four 2011 US Youth Soccer Regional Champions in the Under-14 through Under-17 gender age groups. The remaining slots will be filled by teams that have either achieved success in their respective Regional League or were a semifinalist at the upcoming 2011 Regional Championships. For those remaining slots, the Under-15 age group will have three per region and the Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 age groups will have two per region. If region-specific allocated slots are not filled by applicants in a given region, the National League Committee shall select a team from all entries to replace the region-specific allocated slot.

All teams who would like to participate in the National League must submit an application and pay the fee, which is returned if the team is not accepted.

Team applications will be reviewed by its US Youth Soccer Regional Director who will make recommendations to the National League concerning those teams. The National League Committee will select the sixteen teams in each gender age group.

Each gender age group will be split into two eight-team divisions featuring teams from each of US Youth Soccer's four regions competing in round robin play within each division.  All teams will compete in their respective All-Teams Events held on December 1-4 for the Girls and December 8-11 for the Boys. Teams will then be assigned to play in of the two remaining gender Events held later in 2011-2012.

The top two teams from the Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 age groups will earn a slot to the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships along with the four US Youth Soccer Regional Champions. Under-18 National League teams will compete internally for the National League title only.

Since its inception in 2008, National League representatives have captured a combined eight National Championships.

Teams for the 2011-2012 season are expected to be announced the week of Aug. 2, 2011 for the 11-12 National League season.
