Soccer America seems to address a flaw in coaching, it would be a mistake not to address why it benefits the parents. Woitalla recalls a decision he made as the coach of a team of 9-year-old girls while trying to win a soccer game. Had Woitalla not interfered with the girls' communication and teamwork, the situation could've strengthened a player's confidence and skill. All too often adults focus on winning when instead they need to be honing the skills and techniques of young players. If adults stop keeping score the children will naturally build on the tools they need as they progress.
