Background:
The Utah Youth Soccer Association (Utah Youth Soccer), a registered member of US Youth Soccer and U.S. Soccer, has begun a national search for an Associate State Technical Director and is currently accepting applications for the available position. Utah Youth Soccer is a non-profit youth soccer organization with a membership of 40,000 players. The Utah Youth Soccer offices are located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
 
The Associate State Technical Director will be full-time, salaried employee of Utah Youth Soccer. This position will report directly to the State Technical Director. The duties will consist of the responsibilities described below, as well as, any other task appropriate to the position that may be assigned by the State Technical Director, Executive Director, President and the Board of Directors.
 
Compensation Package:
Salary and benefits are negotiable – commensurate with qualifications.
 
Position Requirements:
  • Minimum of an USSF A License, USSF National Youth License, NSCAA Premier Diploma and/or equivalent international coaching credentials (e.g., UEFA A License).
  • Extensive coaching experience at the youth, collegiate and/or professional levels.
  • Experience in coach training, development, and supervision of coaching staff at the recreation and competition levels.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of year-round soccer programs including coach and player clinics, seasonal camps, academies, and seasonal league play.
  • Member in good standing of Utah Youth Soccer or another state soccer association, US Youth Soccer and U.S. Soccer.
  • Proven verbal, written and analytical business skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse volunteer organization.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Fluent in Spanish preferred.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage all facets of coach and player development programs for grassroots soccer.
  • Direct and manage all seasonal camps; and assist with the development and implementation of academy programs.
  • Assist with the oversight of both coach and player development programs to assure they are being delivered to affiliated organizations with a consistent level of quality. Follow-up with organizations to evaluate effectiveness of all training programs.
  • Assist with the oversight, recruitment, and training of individuals who serve on the Olympic Development Program (ODP) and State Instructional Staff. Reinforce instructional guidelines to ensure continuity of training. Assist the State Technical Director in the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness and responsiveness of the ODP and State Instructional Staff and programs.
  • Assist in reviewing U.S. Soccer, US Youth Soccer, and other relevant resources and coach licensing and educational programs. Assist in determining the appropriateness of these resources and national course instruction/licensing programs to the Utah Youth Soccer environment.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a coherent plan of instructional guidelines and other training materials to be used by Utah Youth Soccer coaches and volunteers to assist in player development initiatives.
  • Assist in the advancement of youth soccer programs in areas of Utah that are currently underserved. This includes both urban and rural areas. Work with community organizations and other non-profit entities (e.g., community centers, boys and girls clubs, YMCAs, etc.) to expand youth soccer opportunities.
 
 
Primary Responsibilities Continued:
  • Offer evaluation and consultation to local member organizations (Leagues, Districts and Clubs) to assist in their process of organizational development. Produce a report listing the coverage to the State Technical Director annually.
  • Contribute articles, training materials and resource reviews (e.g., books, videos, etc.) to the Utah Youth Soccer website.
  • Assist in the writing, editing and final review of all marketing materials related to the all programs offered by Utah Youth Soccer.
  • Attend, within the constraints of the approved budget, meetings or workshops conducted by US Youth Soccer, U.S. Soccer, NSCAA, other state associations, and other soccer organizations to assess new player and coach development initiatives.
  • Regularly attend monthly Board of Director meetings.
