Free Youth Soccer Clinics Set for Celebration of Youth Soccer Month

October 11, 2004 10:00 PM

RICHARDSON, Texas (September 8, 2004) – As Youth Soccer Month gets into full swing, several states have dedicated staff, time and facilities to join the national celebration of youth soccer this September through a series of Youth Soccer Month Free Clinics.

“What an opportunity to educate and reach out to those who may not already be involved in youth soccer,” said David Chesler, Director of Coaching for Idaho Youth Soccer Association.  “We are excited to host four clinics, one specifically geared toward TOPSoccer athletes.”

All local youth are encouraged to attend the free Youth soccer Month Clinics.  Clinics are open to beginner and advanced players alike, recreational and competitive.  Look for flyers in your area or visit YouthSoccerMonth.org for clinic times, locations and dates throughout September.

“We are excited to join the celebration of Youth Soccer Month and feel that a great way to celebrate is through free clinics to local youth,” said Greg Maas, Utah Youth Soccer Association Technical Director.  “We expect over 200 kids to sign-up for our clinic and look forward to teaching those involved in the game and those who would like to try soccer for the first time.”

In addition to training tips and exercise, clinic attendees will also receive Youth Soccer Month premium items for their participation.

Interest in the sport of soccer is at its highest levels ever in the United States, with more children ages 6-19, participating in organized soccer than peewee football, youth basketball or Little League baseball.

Recognizing the impact and importance the sport of soccer plays in the day-to-day lives of America’s families, US Youth Soccer, the nation’s largest youth sports organization is spearheading Youth Soccer Month – Celebrating Soccer in America, this September.
