US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop & Coaches Convention slated for Feb. 23-25

RICHARDSON, Texas (February 21, 2005) – After a successful week in Salt Lake City, US Youth Soccer has announced the 2006 US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop & Coaches Convention will be held February 23-25, 2006, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.

“We are proud to host the nation's youth soccer community next year for the 2006 US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop and Coaches Convention," said Ed Loucks, president of South Texas Youth Soccer Association, home to over 100,000 youth soccer players. "Over the past two years Houston has provided Texas-style hospitality to the NFL Super Bowl XXXVIII, the NBA All-Game, and Major League Baseball's All-Star Game. We are sure you will not only enjoy a quality learning experience from today's leaders in youth soccer, but also have a Texas-sized good time in the process."

The event, the largest of its kind for youth sports in North America, features more than 90 educational workshops and demonstrations for administrators, coaches, referees, parents and soccer enthusiasts. The event features the announcement of the 2005 US Youth Soccer adidas Coach of the Year as well as an exhibit hall with over 200 exhibitors featuring the latest soccer equipment, technology, apparel, fundraising ideas and more.

In addition to learning from some of the leading clinicians in the areas of coaching and player development, next year’s event will include topics from risk management, organizing and financing field development and the challenges and realities of international travel. In addition to building the better youth club or league you will learn the latest in marketing techniques and tactics, sports medicine and nutritional topics, developing and retaining youth referees and recreational, elite and disabled players.

"It was an honor and our pleasure to host the 2005 US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop and Coaches Convention in Salt Lake City,” said Greg Maas State technical director of Utah Youth Soccer. "Without question, US Youth Soccer continues to raise the bar and provide a first-class event for our coaches, administrators and referees from around the country. There is no doubt that this event embodies the foundation that youth soccer is built upon; and I trust that everyone will be highly motivated for the coming year as we look forward to next year's event in Houston, Texas."

Geared specifically towards youth soccer educators, administrators and enthusiasts, the US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop and Coaches Convention provides the nation’s leaders in youth soccer with a venue to continue to further the game in America. Online registration will be available this fall and offer a 50 percent discount for early registration.
