Twenty-two States Kick Off Third Annual Youth Soccer Month with Proclamations
RICHARDSON, TEXAS (September 1, 2005) - Today marks the beginning of the third annual Youth Soccer Month – Celebrating Soccer in America this September. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger joins a list of other state officials proclaiming Youth Soccer Month in their respective states.
“As a former professional athlete, I share your goal of helping people build healthier and happier lives through fitness,” said Governor Schwarzenegger. “Your efforts encourage and empower others to take positive steps toward improving their health through athletic achievement. I applaud your efforts to promote the game of soccer.”
The National Youth Soccer Month campaign assists in educating the public about the joys, rewards and benefits of playing youth soccer, and offers a variety of resources to learn more about youth soccer and get involved. Youth Soccer Month is also an opportunity for state and local officials to recognize and support the many benefits associated with youth soccer. In 2004, thirty-two states officially recognized the celebration of Youth Soccer Month. You can contact your Mayor/Governor and have your city/state officially recognize September as Youth Soccer Month.
