The first joint US Youth Soccer Coaches Connection Symposium from US Youth Soccer and U.S. Soccer was held in Frisco, Texas, in conjunction with the 2006 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program National Championships held at Pizza Hut Park on March 17 and 19.

The symposium offered a unique opportunity to discuss field observation and preparation for team competition in addition to player evaluations with Bob Jenkins, U.S. Soccer Director of Coaching Education and Player Development and other National Staff Coaches.

Roy Lassiter, former U.S. Men’s National Team Player and National Soccer Hall of Fame Nominee, was also a featured speaker. Lassiter worked though drills with a local Under-16 girl’s team focusing on footwork and attacking.

“Training with Roy was awesome,” said Valerie Valero. “He gave us an opportunity to learn skills at a higher level and he really got us out of our comfort zone.”

“A” Licensed Coaches earned two CEU credits for attending the Symposium.
