Coaching Education | June 2007

May 31, 2007 10:00 PM

Dr. Alan Goldberg discusses the mental side of athletic injuries. This is a coach’s and athlete’s guide to the psychologically rebounding from injury. Sports provide a sense of identity, self-esteem and a constructive way to deal with stress. An injury can compromise any of those things. Strategies for athletes to deal with injuries are discussed, such as the first point – be sad – can benefit a player. Ideas for how you as a coach can help your players are also discussed. This is a valuable article for everyone involved in youth sports.
