Opening Day of National League Play Showcases Competitive Matches

Kelsey Goff (KCFC Alliance) nets historic first goal in new league
Home teams combine to score 13 goals, away teams match with 13 of their own
RALEIGH, North Carolina (November 23, 2007) – Elite youth teams from across the country in the Girls and Boys Under-15 and Under-16 age groups kicked off US Youth Soccer National League play today at the WRAL Soccer Center in Raleigh, NC.
In the Girls Under-15 age group, Kelsey Goff scored the first goal in National League history in the second minute of play and added a second tally in the second half to lead the KCFC Alliance Intensity to a 3-1 victory over LDC United. Kaylie Davidson goal was the difference as the So Cal Blues-Dodge edged the PDA Tsunami 1-0, Meanwhile Eclipse Select 92-93 and Sting Dallas Royal 93 battled to a scoreless tie.
Janelle Flaws goal in the 79th minute gave ELA Elite a 2-1 win over the Syracuse FC Fury in Girls Under-16 action, while two first half goals lifted the Eclipse Select 91-92 to a 2-0 win over Hurricane FC 92 Shubert. The Dallas Texans Red 92 Girls grabbed a 1-0 victory over CFC United on Nina Anderson's tally in the 56th minute. The PDA Fire and So Cal Blues-Lippens closed out Girls Under-16 age group play with a scoreless tie.
In Boys Under-16 play, the Dallas Texans 92 Red topped the Texans FC 92 Red 4-0 behind Blake Wise's two first half tallies. Cobb FC and the Chicago Wind battled to a 1-1 draw, while the Slammers shutout the Arsenal Super Eagles 2-0. Finally, the YMS Xplosion downed the Manhattan Phoenix 3-1 to close out Boys Under-16 action.
Closing out the day's action in the Boys Under-15 age group, Solar Red and FC Delco Roadkill battled to a 0-0 tie, while the Chicago Fire Jrs 92/93 scored a 2-0 win over the Michigan Hawks behind Horacio Sanchez's two goals. 92 CASL Elite playing on their home turf edged Vardar 1-0, as John Pace tallied CASL's goal in the 22nd minute.
National League action will continue on Saturday and Sunday at the WRAL Soccer Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
