US Youth Soccer Goal and Save of the Year Announced

US Youth Soccer added the Goal and Save of the Year Awards to the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala this year. Ten players were nominated for each award and the membership was invited to cast their vote for the national winner after watching a video of the goals and saves on Under-9 Antonio Varitimos from Norwood Youth Soccer in Massachusetts won the Save of the Year and Under-15 Brianna Reyna from Leavenworth United Thunder in Kansas won the Goal of the Year.

The winners were announced at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala in Pittsburgh, Penn., which were held in conjunction with the US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop. Hilary Kennedy, host of The US Youth Soccer Show on Fox Soccer Channel, set the stage for the night as the master of ceremonies for the more than 1,200 in attendance. Along with Save and Goal of the Year, several other awards including Administrator of the Year and Volunteer of the Year were added to the program. This was the first year that US Youth Soccer split the Coach of the Year award into two categories (competitive and recreational). The Dr. Thomas Fleck Award was also presented during the Gala along with the charter member of the US Youth Soccer Hall of Fame.
