This update provides you with information on the teams that have won their US Youth Soccer State Championships, first leg of the Series, and have earned a slot in the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships. From Region I…Seacoast United
(NH) had teams competing in 17 of 18 state championship finals and captured 11 state titles in the US Youth Soccer New Hampshire State Cup...Vermont's Nordic Soccer Club Premier did one better with 12 state titles. Since 2006, these 12 Nordic teams have a combined 23 state titles under their belt. The Nordic U16G team boasts 12 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program players while the U18 Girls mark 2008 with their 6th consecutive state championship…FC Stars (MA) U15 girls have repeated as US Youth Soccer Region I Premier League champion, qualifying for the regional championships in Maine. The Stars finished the regular season with a 7-0-0 record to win the North Division, scoring 26 goals while allowing just one. It was a repeat in the finals where the Stars again defeated PDA Tsunami (NJ) 3:0 in the finals for the second straight year…The defending 2007 US Youth Soccer National Champions, Baltimore Casa Mia Bays (MD) U15B, will make their fifth appearance at regionals. The team is led by coach Steve Nichols, who stakes claim to coaching four US Youth Soccer National Championship teams… Winning accolades of four-time state and two-time regional champion Freestate United (MD), now U19B, are back and working their way towards earning the title of national champions. Following their successful tract are the U18G, after three years as state finalist, they have captured the state title. The team has 14 US Youth Soccer ODP players, one on the U.S. National/Pool Teamand one on the U20 U.S. National Team.The West Virginia Soccer Club Elite U16B was formed in December when two rival teams merged. Both teams have held the title of state champion, never regional or national champions. Follow the team in Portland to see if they are stronger together.
From Region II…Pacesetters U17B Premier (OH-N) has again earned their way to regionals. The team will make their third consecutive appearance as state champions in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Sharp on and off the field the team boasts a player with a perfect PSAT score and GPAs over 3.5…2007 regional semi-finalist, Everest (OH-N) U17B will also be back at the regional championships…A six-time state champ (2003-2008), that's right, Internationals U15B (OH-N) will again be back for regional play. The boys from Cleveland are hoping the experience continues to pay dividends…Internationals U18G are now three-time state champs (2006-2008) and bring U.S. National Team member Paige Maxwell and 15 players going to NCAA Division I schools in the fall to Rockford…CASA Black U17G (OH-N) took full advantage of playing in regionals last year and the team thanks the numerous college coaches in attendance. Twelve of the girls have committed to NCAA Division I schools, a large majority of those commitments were garnered from their performance in the 2007 regional championships…Look out for some sharp dressed men in region II thanks to U14B Carmel United SC Academy 94 (IN). The boys are three time champs and sport professionalism too boot. Look for the boys in dress pants, button down shirts and ties round Rockford…Indy Burn U18B (IN) have 17 graduating seniors, all will be playing collegiate soccer. Two players have completed their first seasons as NCAA DI players for the now seven-time state champions…Jonah Chrisman's MI Elite 95 Steinwascher U13B (MI) have rallied around the team's top player, recently diagnosed with cancer. Jonah's teammates won the state cup in his honor and named him team MVP…Team Ohio U16B (OH-S) are back-to-back state champs led by Aaron Horton a former U.S. Residency player and several US Youth Soccer ODP players. The team has allowed only seven goals while scoring 69 this season…How does a team GPA of 3.8 sound? That's what the Worthington United Blue U17B (OH-S) will bring with their game to Rockford. Six players have a GPA of 4.0 or higher…Eagles SC U15G (OH-S) claimed their first state title and will look to three regional pool players and national teamer Michela Paradiso to take them deep into the championships…Ohio Elite SA U17G (OH-S) have clinched their sixth state title (2003-2008). 14 of 16 have committed to NCAA DI Schools with the remaining looking to commit in the upcoming weeks. In 2005 the girls won the US Youth Soccer Region II Championship.
Region III…West Pines United (FL) took the youngest and oldest state titles in Florida with the U13B and U19B both seeing extending time with overtime wins. U19B faced cross-town rival Weston Fury SC, no stranger to the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series…Wellington Wave (FL) U16B defeated Jacksonville SC, 5:2, to claim the state title for the second consecutive year…Kendall Soccer Coalition (FL) U17B are heading to Raleigh. The two-time state champ was an 07 regional semifinalist…RSL Florida U16G are in as are the U17G who feature a set of twins both on the U.S. National Team (Sidney and Shelby Payne)…IMG Soccer Academy (FL) has twelve seniors on the team all committed to collegiate soccer programs, ten in NCAA DI schools. Five players were on the Florida US Youth Soccer ODP team at the 2008 US Youth Soccer ODP National Championships…Concorde Fire (GA) took four girls teams to the Georgia state finals with the U18G Concorde Fire South Elite claiming a ticket to regionals by way of the regional league…Concorde Fire boys will be represented with the U14B Elite thanks to a 2:1 win over Ambush. GSA U15B met Concorde's Elite in the finals where GSA took the win (2:1) and advance to Raleigh. GSA U15G claimed another title with a 3:1 win over Concorde Elite…
From Region IV…It took two 15-minute overtime periods to decide the Colorado U17B state champs, but in the end, Colorado Nike Rush beat out defending state champs, Ft. Collins Arsenal (CO)on a PK…Nine teams (U12G – U18G and U16B and U19B) will represent Sereno Soccer Club (AZ) in Hawaii next week. This is the second consecutive state title for all but the U12G…Region IV play begins Monday, June 16 in Hawaii. Look for great video throughout the event as well as stories, photos and more.
