US Youth Soccer Names Todd Roby Director of Communications

FRISCO, TEXAS (August 19, 2008) - US Youth Soccer, the largest youth sports organization in the nation, has named Todd Roby Director of Communications. 

Roby will oversee the newly created communications department at the organization's national headquarters in Frisco, Texas.  The communications department will oversee publicity efforts and general communication for US Youth Soccer including the execution of public awareness campaigns with external partners; the production of publications and collateral materials; directing and managing media relations outreach; and the development of internal and external messaging including the organization's three web sites.

He will continue to coordinate resources on providing the best platforms to further US Youth Soccer's mission to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of America's youth through the sport of soccer at all levels of age and competition.

"Todd has been a terrific asset to our organization and has helped shape the direction of our communication initiatives," said Jim Cosgrove, executive director of US Youth Soccer.  "His experience in public relations and marketing combined with his enthusiasm and commitment to furthering the message and goals of US Youth Soccer make him the ideal person for this position and the enhancement to our organizational structure. Much has changed at US Youth Soccer since he started.  His passion and dedication for expanding our public relations and communications efforts is evident daily."

Roby joined US Youth Soccer as the Manager of Communications in August 2003. He was promoted to Senior Manager of Communications in August of 2006 and today to Director of Communications. His responsibilities include developing and managing communication strategies that position US Youth Soccer as the leader in developing youth through the sport of soccer.   

Prior to joining US Youth Soccer in August 2003, Roby was director of marketing/business development for Hartford Mortgage/Share Plus Federal Bank serving PepsiCo, Yum! Brands and Frito Lay.  Roby previously served as manager of marketing communications for the Byron Nelson Championship PGA Tour event.   

Roby holds a master's degree in sport management from Baylor University and a bachelor's degree in public relations/communications from Howard Payne University.  He and his wife, Susan, have one daughter and reside in Plano, Texas.
