The Massachusetts Youth Soccer Board of Directors announced today that Donald R. Rawson, Jr. has, by unanimous vote, been appointed as Executive Director. This appointment culminates a six month search process with applications received from throughout the United States and Western Europe. Don will be filling the vacancy created by the untimely death of former Executive Director John Burrill earlier this year.
Prior to accepting the position of Executive Director of Massachusetts Youth Soccer, Don Rawson had served as Executive Director of Indiana Youth Soccer since 2000. Don has also worked in marketing positions with Reebok and Adidas, and served as the Director of Operations for the 1994 World Cup Chicago venue.
Don served as an assistant coach for the Indiana University men's soccer team and was awarded the inaugural Jerry Yeagley Award for Exceptional Personal Achievement by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in 2006. Don is Assistant Dean of the US Youth Soccer Leadership Training/Soccer Learning Academy. He is also a member of the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame and a board member of the Indiana Soccer Foundation.
The Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the task of promoting and enhancing the culture of soccer in Massachusetts. Established in 1977, we have become the second largest state youth soccer association in the United States with more than 185,000 registered players, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Board of Directors, an energetic support staff and over 25,000 adult volunteers.
