INDIANAPOLIS, IN (October 2, 2009) The Indiana Youth Soccer Board of Directors announced today that David Guthrie has been appointed Interim Executive Director. Guthrie will serve in this position while the Board conducts a thorough executive search for a permanent Executive Director to lead Indiana Youth Soccer.
Guthrie has an extensive business experience in both the public and private sectors, as well as, a background in not-for-profit leadership, with a focus on youth and soccer-related programs. He is the Past President of a publicly-traded coal company and has been a private business owner for over 25 years. Guthrie is a graduate of Purdue University and also holds a Masters Certificate in Not for Profit Management from Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI).
His soccer-related experience includes having served as Past President of Indiana Youth Soccer and Past President and current board member of the Indiana Soccer Foundation. Guthrie also served as a volunteer coach and board member for an Indianapolis-area soccer club for over 20 years, a TOPSoccer Coach for over 15 years and as the National US Youth Soccer Chairman for the TOPSoccer Committee. He has also served as a volunteer consultant on two, 40+ acre soccer facilities.

We are extremely fortunate that Dave has agreed to take the reins of our organization," said Indiana Youth Soccer President Murray Clark. "Dave's knowledge of the membership and day-to-day business operations of Indiana Youth Soccer allows the Board to direct its full attention to serving the current and future needs of our 56,000 members, while we undergo the process of selecting a new Executive Director."
The selection of Guthrie as Interim Executive Director fills the vacancy created by the resignation of former Executive Director Don Rawson who accepted a position with Massachusetts Youth Soccer.

Guthrie lives in Greenwood, Indiana with his wife Charlene; he is a father to David, 28, and Michael, 19.
