WILSON, N.C. (Dec. 10, 2009) – Elite youth teams from across the country in the Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 Boys age groups kicked off the third season of the US Youth Soccer National League Boys play at Wilson Gillette Soccer Complex in Wilson, N.C., today.

Under-15 Boys
In the first game of the 2009-2010 National League Boys season, Albion SC (CA-S) didn't waste any time with putting one on the board over the Dallas Texans. Ariel Lassiter netted a 5th minute goal for a 1-0 score that remained through the first half. The Texans came to win and showed that with goals from Christian Soldat and Jack Blanton in the 56th and 71st minutes to walk away with the 2-1 win.

Dix Hill Thunder (E-NY) and 94 CASL Elite (NC) last faced each other at the 2009 US Youth Soccer National Championships in which Thunder had the 2-0 result. Today the familiar foes battled it out, leaving the score at 0-0 through half time. The lone goal of the game came from Thunder's Matt Sherr in the 71st minute for the 1-0 Thunder victory.

Under-16 Boys
Sereno 94 White (AZ) played in the 2009 National Championships and after getting a taste of what it's like, they took to the field in day one of National League play ready to conquer and get one step closer to advancing back the Nationals. Nicholas Cavaretta gave Sereno the 1-0 lead over Waza FC Black (MI) in the 36th minute, and Douglass Jamison solidified the 2-0 Sereno win the 76th minute. Sereno has one win under their belt, but still need many more before they secure the return trip.

Grand Rapids Crew Juniors (MI) took the early advantage over TSC 94 Black (OK) in the 19th minute with a goal from Jason Stacy. Both teams continued to look for the finisher, but neither was successful, and the 1-0 score remained until the final whistle blew.

Under-17 Boys
The Under-17 Boys games kicked off with goals early in the first half. CESA Premier 92 (SC) had two first half goals over Ohio North's Blast FC Red compliments of Ricardo Garbanzo and Emmett Lunceford in the 11th and 32nd minutes. After the half, Nathan Langhals put one away for Blast. CESA's Brandon Burkholder upped the lead to 3-1 with a 63rd minute goal. With only minutes remaining, Lunceford and Garbanzo each netted their second goals of the game in the 80th and 82nd minutes. The game ended 5-1.

Penn Fusion Coppa (E-PA) took the early lead over Elite FC Gladiators (NM) when the Gladiators keeper came out to challenge the offense and Penn Fusion's Robert Friskey knocked the ball over the keeper's head for a 15th minute goal. Friskey netted two more in the 23rd and 41st minutes for the 3-0 lead at the half. Andrew Thoma put the Gladiators on the board with his 53rd minute goal, but Penn Fusion wrapped up the game with a 75th minute Benjamin Maurey goal for the 4-1 win.
