Delaware's Jay Ziminsky honored at Awards Gala
FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 26, 2010) - The recipient of the 2009
US Youth Soccer Volunteer of the Year award was announced tonight at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2010
US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The national Volunteer of the Year award winner is Jay Ziminsky of Middleton, Del.
Hilary Kennedy, host of The US Youth Soccer Show on Fox Soccer Channel, set the stage for the night as the master of ceremonies for the more than 1,000 in attendance. Boys and Girls
Competitive and
Recreation Coaches of the Year,
Administrator of the Year,
Goal and
Save of the Year,
Male and Female Young Referees of the Year,
TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year and the
Dr. Thomas Fleck Award were also presented during the Gala and the
US Youth Soccer Hall of Fame inductees were honored as well.
Jay Ziminsky volunteers as president of Middletown Odessa Townsend Soccer (M.O.T.) in Delaware. Under his leadership, M.O.T. has grown to the second largest club in the state. His commitment to the success of the organization is exemplified in his willingness to do what it takes to keep things running smoothly, from lining fields to spending Saturdays at the soccer fields or sorting and organizing uniforms and equipment. Ziminsky is responsible for implementing training courses for coaches and referees, and he routinely organizes outings to professional soccer games for players.
The recipient of the Volunteer of the Year award was selected by the US Youth Soccer Board of Directors and is honored as a positive role model who promotes the game and increases the opportunities to participate.
