FRISCO, Texas (April 1, 2010) – US Youth Soccer, the nation's largest youth sports association, today announced Degree® as the official deodorant and antiperspirant of US Youth Soccer.

The partnership's signature US Youth Soccer Degree Jersey Giveaway program will give members of the free US Youth Soccer Club Directory an opportunity to enter for a chance to win a set of free jerseys for their team.  Jersey requests will be accepted through USYouthSoccer.org beginning April 1, 2010.

"When we heard about the impact that Degree wanted to make in US Youth Soccer by providing some 85,000 new soccer jerseys to players without charge, we were taken back by its initiative and desire to eliminate some of the financial burden on our players and their families in playing our great sport," said Larry Monaco, president of US Youth Soccer.  "There will be a tremendous number of happy youth players this fall when they receive their brand new jerseys from our newest partner Degree.  Act fast as this is sure to be a big hit across the country."

US Youth Soccer coaches and club officials whose club has joined the free Club Directory can enter the sweepstakes to win 16 adidas® jerseys for their team. Jerseys are co-branded with the US Youth Soccer and Degree logos on the sleeve. Each package of jerseys will also include samples of antiperspirant/deodorant for coaches to distribute to their teams.

The sweepstakes will award more than 5,000 teams in the Under-8, Under-10 and Under-12 divisions with a total of 85,000 jerseys. At least 25 teams from each of US Youth Soccer's State Associations will receive a set of team jerseys.

This is the first time US Youth Soccer or one of its sponsors has given away jerseys in a sweepstakes, and the first time Degree and US Youth Soccer have entered into a partnership.

"We are very excited about the partnership with US Youth Soccer and the opportunity to provide thousands of youth teams the equipment they need to be confident and successful," said Jay Mathew, director of marketing, Unilever Deodorant USA. "We want to help these active players and families remain cool, calm and confident throughout the day – especially during those sweat-inducing moments."

The sponsorship is part of a larger Unilever mission to provide product solutions that help free tweens from odor and discomfort. Unilever, the makers of Degree® Men Deodorant, Degree® Girl Deodorant, Dove® Deodorant and Suave® Deodorant, has assembled a team of professionals to offer advice on how to help tweens face new opportunities with confidence.

The jersey program will be on USYouthSoccer.org beginning April 1, and club leadership is encouraged to submit their club information now.
