Utah Youth Soccer Hires Assistant Technical Director

Utah Youth Soccer is very excited to announce the hiring of Rick Flores as Assistant Technical Director. Rick brings a wealth of experience as a National Staff Coach and Instructor for US Youth Soccer and as a State Staff Coach and Instructor for California Youth Soccer Association South. Rick will be entrenched in player, coaching and new program development within our grassroots, recreation and outreach based programs. "Coach Rick has tremendous experience at the grassroots-level, and his enthusiasm and passion for player, coaching and program development is a perfect fit for our progressive organization," said Technical Director Greg Maas.
Rick has been very influential in the growth and success of La Jolla Youth Soccer as the Director of Coaching (6 years) and as the Director of Coaching for Mesa Soccer (5 years) in San Diego, CA. While working with both clubs, Rick was able to increases the membership at La Jolla Soccer by 60 percent and added additional programs which enhances the development opportunities for the players and coaches.
Rick was one of three instructors chosen by US Youth Soccer to travel abroad to obtain the international license to teach TOPSoccer. Rick was also one of the writers of the US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer certification course. Rick is known throughout California South and various states for his ability to teach both the player and coach in a manner that meets the needs of both in a professional and fun manner. 
Rick has the USSF "A" License, National Youth License, USSF Goalkeeper License and the NSCAA Premier Diploma. Before joining Utah Youth Soccer, he has coached for over 20 years from Micro U5 to U19 in both recreational and competitive programs, High School, Marine Corps Men's teams and Armed Forces Marine Corps Team in the Military Championships. 
Rick's playing experience began when he was 8 years old, and he continued on to compete for various Marine Corps teams while active duty. Rick was in the United States Marines and served honorably and retired after 20 years of faithful service in 2004.


Utah Youth Soccer is the largest youth soccer organization in Utah. Utah Youth Soccer is the state's affiliate for US Youth Soccer, which is both the largest sports organization in the United States and the most populous member of the United State Soccer Federation - the governing body for soccer in the United States. Utah Youth Soccer annually registers approximately 40,000 players between the ages of 4 to 19, plus more than 10,000 administrators, coaches and volunteers.
