The fun continues this September as US Youth Soccer, the nation's largest youth sports association, announces the eighth annual national Youth Soccer Month – "Celebrating Soccer in America".

"US Youth Soccer looks forward each year to spearheading the Youth Soccer Month initiative. We take great pride in promoting the benefits of playing this wonderful sport including fun, family, friendship and fitness," said John Sutter, president of US Youth Soccer. "More American children play organized soccer than any other sport. This celebration furthers US Youth Soccer's mission to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of America's youth through the sport of soccer at all levels of age and competition."

Youth Soccer Month 2010 includes working with local leadership to organize grassroots public affairs campaigns, numerous local events and media relations initiatives.

Now in its third year, the highly successful Youth Soccer Month Giant Jersey Tour kicks off Sept. 1. New for 2010, US Youth Soccer will be giving away 500 Game-in-a-Box, featuring everything a young player needs to start playing. The kit includes a ball, four cones, a US Youth Soccer FUEL magazine and an activity guide to get started. A Youth Soccer Month branded SUV will be touring events across America to share the excitement and promote the benefits of soccer. A life-size Stickley, the US Youth Soccer mascot, will be traveling on the SUV to take pictures with fans and at major landmarks along the tour's route. Follow Stickley's travels through his blog. The tour schedule will be announced soon on YouthSoccerMonth.org.

There are currently 50 college events scheduled slated. A complete list of games is being finalized and the schedule will be posted on YouthSoccerMonth.org.

Since its inception, state and local government officials have officially proclaimed September as Youth Soccer Month to further the awareness and benefits of youth soccer. Utah leads the celebration by achieving a renewing proclamation naming September as Youth Soccer Month. Youth Soccer Month is a celebration for all of those who participate in soccer and those who would like to start playing soccer. The celebration highlights the various programs available to children interested in participating in soccer, including the inner-city, special needs, recreational and elite soccer.

Throughout Youth Soccer Month a series of messages and themes will be communicated to illustrate the essence of youth soccer. Each week during Youth Soccer Month a different key will be the focus of "Celebrating Soccer in America."

The four messages of Youth Soccer month are:
· Fun: (Week of September 1)
Whether recreational or competitive in nature, involvement in soccer is easy, affordable and rewarding.
· Family: (Week of September 6)
Playing soccer ties families together as schedules, vacations and family time are coordinated.
· Friendship: (Week of September 13)
The relationships generated through playing soccer extend beyond the field.
· Fitness: (Week of September 20)
The health and fitness (physical, psychological and social) benefits of playing soccer.
