FRISCO, Texas (Nov. 3, 2010) – US Youth Soccer proudly names David Messersmith as director of accounting and finance in the US Youth Soccer national office in Frisco, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.
Messersmith has more than 26 years experience in finance and public accounting including owning his own accounting and tax services firm since 1984.
"David's financial and accounting experience as well as his extensive experience within US Youth Soccer make him a great asset to our organization and the national office staff," Jim Cosgrove, executive director, said.
Messersmith is on the board of directors for the U.S. Soccer Foundation, serving as the chairman of the audit committee. He has also served on the board of US Youth Soccer, North Texas State Soccer and his local soccer association.
"I have been involved in youth soccer for nearly 30 years and look forward to the opportunity to continue my involvement with US Youth Soccer in the national office," Messersmith said. "Like many volunteers, my involvement started as a recreational coach. I have served as president of my local soccer association, State Association and on the national board of directors. Merging my career and my passion for advancing youth soccer is a great opportunity that I look forward to."
Messersmith received his bachelor's degree in accounting from University of Texas – Arlington.
US Youth Soccer extends continued success to Jason Vanacour, general counsel, as he leaves his position with the organization to pursue a new opportunity.
