FRISCO, Texas (Nov. 25, 2011)
- The annual US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys Thanksgiving Interregional kicked off today with the 1998 age group competing at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.

The U.S. Under-14 National Team Blue defeated Region III 3-0 in their opening game. Elijah Rice converted a corner kick in the 6th minute to open the scoring and Trey Vinson headed in another in the 20th as the National Team took a 2-0 lead at halftime. Luca de la Torre found some time near the box and converted an 18 yard shot in the 52nd to cap the game for the National Team.

The U.S. Red squad matched the Blue side with a 3-0 win of their own over Region I. The National Team got on the board early in this one as well when Raheem Taylor-Parkes broke through the defense and tucked a nice shot away in the 6th minute. Lagos Kunga doubled the U.S. lead in the 35th and Joe Gallardo slammed home a loose ball in the 74th to give the National Team the win.

The US Youth Soccer ODP Boys Thanksgiving Interregional features teams in the 1997 and 1998 age groups including the U.S. Under-14 National Team.

Continuing its tradition of elite play, competition and player development, youth from the nation's elite player identification and development program, US Youth Soccer ODP, will train and compete in front of U.S. National Team staff, professional and collegiate coaches to maximize their exposure for selection to the next level of play. More US Youth Soccer ODP players have been called into Youth National Team camps than any other ID program, including 129 of 148 players called into U-14, U-15, U-17 and U-18 camps since September 2011.
