The U.S. Men’s National Team will continue its effort to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup when it faces Honduras on Feb. 6. The official draw for the Final Round of World Cup Qualifying was held by CONCACAF on Wednesday night in Miami Beach, Fla.
The 10 scheduled matches of 2013 will start with the Feb. 6 opener against Honduras, the first of three consecutive road games in which the U.S. also faces challengers Mexico on March 26, the first meeting between the two countries since the U.S. defeated them for the first time in Mexico on Aug. 15.
The U.S. is joined by Costa Rica, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico and Panama as the final six teams set to compete in the 10-game round-robin format from Feb. 6-Oct. 15, 2013. The top three teams will automatically advance to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, and the fourth-place finisher will face a two-game playoff against the winner of the Oceania region.
