FRISCO, Texas (June 14, 2014) – After three days of preliminary play, four champions are crowned and six championship matches are set at the 2014 US Youth Soccer Region II Presidents Cup in Overland Park, Kan. Of the tournament’s 71 teams, four from the Under-13 and Under-14 age groups have earned a regional title and a berth to the 2014 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup, July 10-13 in Greenville, S.C. The remaining Under-14 through Under-17 Boys and Girls age groups will be decided after Sunday’s final matches.

The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for teams seeking additional challenges to play for a national title against teams of similar abilities. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

Highlights:

Under-13 Boys Champion: OPSC Monaco (KS)

OPSC Monaco (KS) defeated SASA Spirits (IL) 1-0 to take home the Under-13 Boys championship. Mitchell Maupin gave OPSC the much desired goal in the 29th minute of the first half. Monaco’s backline remained sturdy for the rest of the match and kept the shutout to win the title.

Under-14 Boys Champion: Team Evanston Premier (IL)
Team Evanston Premier (IL) beat FC42 Lime Barry (OH-S) 2-0 to become the Region II Presidents Cup Under-14 Boys champions. Two first half goals won the match. The first occurred in the 19th minute by Rudy Bieglmeier and Jonathan Meneses added the second in the 28th minute.

Under-15 Boys Final: FCX Black (IL) vs. SASA Spirits 99 (IL)
FCX Black (IL) will face SASA Spirits 99 (IL) in the Under-15 Boys final. FCX Black heads into the match with a 2-0-1 record, and SASA Spirits remains undefeated after three pool play games.

Under-16 Boys Final: Atletico Flames 98 Boys (KY) vs. Mid Rivers Soccer Club - Tigers (MO)
Two undefeated teams will meet up at the Under-16 Boys final: Atletico Flames 98 Boys (KY) and Mid Rivers Soccer Club - Tigers (MO).

Under-17 Boys Final: United / SKY 97 (KY) vs. SASA Spirits U17 Blue (IL)
United / SKY 97 (KY) and SASA Spirits U17 Blue (IL) will face each in other in tomorrow’s U-17 Boys final. SASA Spirits goes into the match undefeated, and United / SKY 97 goes into the match with a 1-0-2 record.

Under-13 Girls Champion: Team Elmhurst Select (IL)
Team Elmhurst Select (IL) was crowned the U-13 Girls champions after defeating KC Legends Inferno (KS) 3-2. Team Elmhurst came back in the second half after going down 1-0 from a KC Legends goal in the 5th minute. Mary Katherine Kapsch put Team Elmhurst back in it with a pair of goals in the 37th and 43rd minutes, and Lindsey Novak added a third in the 53rd minute. KC Legends scored another in the last minute of play, but ran out of time giving Team Elmhurst the 3-2 victory and championship.

Under-14 Girls Champion: PSC Orange (IL)
A pair of goals by Kaylee Zimbelmann helped PSC Orange (IL) become the U-14 Girls champions.
PSC Orange defeated KHSC Central Girls Red (KY) 2-0 with goals by Zimbelmann in the 14th and
37th minutes.

Under-15 Girls Final: Missouri Rush SC Nero (MO) vs. Warren United Blazers Black (IL)
Missouri Rush SC Nero (MO) will face Warren United Blazers Black (IL) in tomorrow’s U-15 Girls final. Missouri Rush goes into the match undefeated and Warren United Blazers goes into the match with a 2-0-1 record.

Under-16 Girls Final: St Louis Scott Gallagher Red (MO) vs. Classics Eagles Black (OH-S)
St Louis Scott Gallagher Red (MO) will square off with Classics Eagles Girls Black (OH-S) in tomorrow’s U-16 Girls final. Both teams head in to tomorrow’s match with a 2-0-1 record.

Under-17 Girls Final: FC Evansville Shooting Stars (IN) vs. Missouri Rush Select Azul (MO)
FC Evansville Shooting Stars (IN) and Missouri Rush Select Azul (MO) will face each other for a second time in the U-17 Girls final. Their last encounter, in the second day of preliminary play, resulted in a 1-1 tie. Both teams head into tomorrow’s match with a 2-0-1 record.
