Players of the Month | April 2014

Each month, US Youth Soccer will be recognizing one male and one female player whose accomplishments on and off the field stick out among the rest. The players who are selected will represent a balance of athletic achievement, sportsmanship and citizenship.

Examples of these athletes' characteristics include:
- Impactful or notable in-game performance
- Displays good sportsmanship and the promotion of teamwork
- Community service
- Superior academic achievement
- Overcoming personal obstacles

While great performances in the game of soccer are appreciated, it's important to note that accomplishments off the field are valued just as much as those achieved on the field.

This month's honorees are...

Female Player of the Month

Chloe from Havelock, N.C.chloe pom

Chloe recorded four goals and an assist on her competitive soccer team last season. She is currently on the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) roster for the 2002 age group, and her goal is to one day play for the U.S. Women’s National Team in the World Cup. In school, Chloe has consistently made the honor roll and has been selected to join H.O.S.T. (Helping Our Students Transition), which is a group that pairs new students with veteran students to ease the transition into a new school. As a military child, Chloe knows about adapting to new schools and takes the program seriously. Chloe also plays the clarinet and helps in the classroom at her church.

Male Player of the Month

Hunter from McCalla, Ala.hunter pom

Hunter plays midfield and has been among the top three scorers on his team for the past three years. He is a team player who makes sure to spread the ball around to his teammates and is an encouraging presence for his team. In addition to soccer, he plays basketball for his school. He is a solid student who has been nominated to be an ambassador because of his grades and leadership. In his community, Hunter volunteers to serves Thanksgiving and Christmas lunches to the needy, and he acts as an alter server at his church. He also helped rescue three dogs, which his family now cares for as pets.
